Nexus 6 wifi connection problem

For months now, my Nexus 6 will not reliably connect to most wifi routers. If I reboot it, it almost always does for a short period of time (< 1 day). I suspect this happened with the last update to 7.0 in April, but not totally sure. Anyway I hope there is another update really soon as this is quite annoying.

More details .... it will 100% always connect to a very old Linksys router I have that is probably 10 years old. It has no password. I have 2 newer routers at home (one a linksys, one att), it will never connect to those. With the exception of right after a reboot. That scenario is the same with 4 different wifi routers at work.

To add to the irritation, the strength of cell signal has radically deteriorated over time, both at home and work. This thing is becoming a paper weight.

Yes it worked find on all wifi routers until a few months ago. I think it was around the time of Android 7 update in April.

Someone at 611 tech support had me do a factory reset. This seems to have fixed things. Thats a [Removed] I am glad I don't have to do often.

We always want to be sure your device is working the way it should dingdongdaddy. We will definitely do everything we can to help. Who is the manufacturer of the Nexus 6 you are using? This will help us provide the best steps. Also, with the signal issues you are experiencing, what is the zip code where you are having trouble?

Motorola. It happens in every zipcode I've been in. The most common ones are 40207, and 40203.

I don't think its a signal issue, as it works just fine on an old Linksys with no password. I suspect the key is the password authentication is borked.

Thank you for providing that information, Ding Dong daddy. With regard to the device were you ever able to access a WiFi connection on your phone previously? Has there been any recent changes on your device?
