Apple Store or Verizon?

Question

I ordered a Rose Gold 7 Plus 256GB on 9/13 and havent' had any movement on my 10/12 ship date.  I see a TON of these available in Apple stores all around me.  So what is the benefit of buying from Verizon versus Apple?  I am thinking of canceling my order and then picking up the phone I want today.  I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything in regards to buying from Verizon versus Apple.
