Autocorrect spelling

Question

When you are typing a text message, the iPhone will "correct" words that it thinks you do not mean to type. If you hit the space bar it will "accept' the correction. But what if you do not want to accept the suggested word? There's probably a simple way, but I haven't figured it out yet. Currently I'm letting the word be changed, then back spacing and spelling it the way I want, which it then accepts.

You can turn that feature off under General > Settings > Keyboard. Also when you misspell a word and the correct word pops up, there is a tiny "x" next to the correct word. You can tap that "x" and it won't add the correct word.
