I want to update to an iPhone but want to get it elsewhere than Verizon. Would Verizon still set up the Plan if I did that?
Thanks for all the information everyone. Yes, you can purchase equipment from other sources as long as the phone is compatible with our network. For instance an I-phone that was used with another carrier would not be compatible with our network but if you purchased your iphone from Apple and purchased the i-phone that was made for Verizon Wireless, you can activate it on your account. You can contact customer service to check the ESN of the phone your purchasing to ensure the phone is compatible with our network and system.
Additionally, you do not have to change from the America's Choice pricing plan to the Nationwide pricing plan to use the i-phone device.
Sure you can, but you will have to dump the America Choice plan.
what would be the alternatives?
Pretty sure you'll have to make the Nationwide jump. Just ask cust care to do the account analysis to make sure you get the most cost worthy plan pricing.
thanks very much! This has helped tremendously.
Also remember that 3rd party carriers often have their own contracts in addition to the one Verizon has. Many will not let you change your account for 181 days, and charge a hefty fee if you do. Just be sure to read everything you sign before you sign it, it is often not the same as Verizon's contracts.
Yes!! you're right! So, I've decided to get the iPhone through verizon...there are enough variables to keep me from getting it elsewhere.
