Can I preoder online and pick up at store retailer?

I am going to preorder the iPhone 4S but I would like to know if I preorder it online does that mean that they just ship the phone to me or does it somehow save an iphone for me at my Verizon store? or could I preorder and have it deliver there somehow? how does preordering work?

Pre-ordering means it will be shipped to you. Pick ups of pre-orders in a store are not the normal process.

If they offer the option, you can order through Apple and pick it up at an Apple store. Not sure if they are doing that this time but you can contact Apple to find out. This is assuming you are in an area where there is an Apple store nearby.

Well that's disappointing. I was really hoping to pre-order and pick up.

Does anyone know when pre-orders get shipped? I am just debating if I should preorder and wait for delivery or take a chance and just try and pick one up from the store on the 14th (I'm looking to get the 32GB in white).
