I've been receiving voicemails several days to weeks after they ahve been sent. I'm missing calls now. What can I do to fix this?
Pam, we want to do everything we can to make sure your calls are working perfectly! Is this just happening with your calls? Is this with receiveing and outgoing calls?
How are your other services, text and mobile data speeds? Let us know, we are eager to hear from you!

Text and mobile are fine. This is the 2nd time I got 5 or more voicemails show up that were several days to weeks old and I had not seen them before.
Thank you for the information, PAMIU70.
When you are missing your Voice Mail messages, are you spending an extended period of time on your Wi-Fi?

I use wi-fi at home but use the network out of the house. I’m not on WiFi foe long periods of time.
This has happened twice to my husband and I. Sometiems 5-6 days later we'll get 4-5 voicemails on our brand new iphone x's. We've done the trouble shooting of not being on wifi, restarting phones and that doesn't seem to make a differences. The rep I chatted with said the phones must be faulty. I bought five iphones that day and the phones are faulty? My coworker just said on her iphone 8S she's had it happen to on Verizon. I'm very pleased with Verizon service, but I've had iphones on AT&T before switching and this never happened. It's very embarrassing because I missed Dr's rescheduling appointments, I missed meeting changes, my husband missed being called into work early. Someone needs to not just say "we don't know". We rely on these messages getting to us and oddly, some messages to come through right away.
jacobm111, I can see how a delay in voicemail messages can cause a commotion in your daily lives especially when they pertain to work and appointments. Thanks for being proactive with troubleshooting and listing out the steps for me. Seeing that your coworker, your husband, and yourself are experiencing the same issue, getting this matter fully resolved is a priority. Although I am pleased to hear about your service feedback, we must take ownership of the voicemail issue and make sure you are met with a solid solution. Have you noticed that location impacts the delayed voicemails? If so, what is the closest intersection and zip code that the problem occurs at? When did the issue first start occurring? When you call your voicemail (by dialing your own number) can you locate the delayed messages by that method? This will help determine if the problem is with Visual Voicemail or the voicemail network.
Please reset your network settings using this link: http://spr.ly/6601Ep953 Please note that reset network settings will erase your Wi-Fi password, so please ensure to input it after your phone powers on again.

I have the exact same problem. I have an iphone 5s. I have called Verizon and they reset everything and my voice mails are still not coming through. I reset the phone wifi settings. My wifi is not busy at all, it happens on wifi and off. Phone may or may not get the missed call notification. The it happens from outside of the network and from land lines. Today the call rang on the phone once and looked like a hang up. The missed call was there but no voicemail notification. I went through everything again and no notification. The only symptom I can come up with is when I call my cell phone from my land line, it pushes through all the hanging voicemails. They are there, hung on the system somehow. Not sure why a call from a Charter land line will push them through, but other calls will not. When I called Verizon help they checked and reset everything and gave me a $15 credit. What do they know that I don't. No one else gives me a credit when I call for a problem?
I agree, same thing happening here, both on and off our wifi network. Has anyone had anything that actually works? One message from last Tuesday, finally showed up on Monday, almost 1 week later! Also missed a doctor rescheduling appointment call.
I would love to hear of a solution. This has been a problem with Verizon for a long time. I have two phones, an ATT for personal use and a Verizon provided by my company. This is only a problem on Verizon. Today I had 17 VM's pop up - some as old as 26 days. I often get text's and VM's that are days/weeks old with Verizon. This is a known problem but they will not do anything to fix it. Verizon also limits voicemail box capacity, unlike ATT. I have to clean out my mailbox regularly with Verizon but I have never had to with ATT and I have that line for over a decade. ATT has more signal limits than Verizon - though not nearly as much difference as a few years ago, but ATT has definitely got the better network. Meanwhile...I would love to see a fix to this issue!!! Hope someone at Verizon is listening. This is a business account and I have notified the company owners that we are losing sales because we aren't getting messages. We'll see if anyone cares.
This is the same for me. I've had several instances where I have missed or been unable to answer a call, and due to the nature of the call, was expecting a voicemail, but never got one. I would go into the voicemail app just to make sure that there was nothing there. Today, all of a sudden six were there, the oldest one being about 4 weeks ago. I have also missed important messages (doctor's appointments being moved, work calls, etc). It's very, very frustrating.
We appreciate all you’ve done in troubleshooting this voicemail issue, 1943gpw. You sure found a unique workaround. We want to be sure we’ve done all we can on our end as well, as there are many factors that go into getting notified about a voicemail. You mentioned you called us and got the voicemail working. Has the solution continued to work?

davehvac, it is surprising to see the voicemail dilemma has been going on for a long time. We are stunned to perceive that your texts and voicemails get delayed for days or even weeks. Rest assured we are listening, care about your situation and want to find a fix. Please tell us more, when exactly did the issue start? Any recent changes (new update, moved, etc.)? Aside from the text and voicemail problem, any other issues (data/calls)?
I’ve been a Verizon customer since the company started as Airtouch. Have had this problem with voicemails on every iPhone since the 5; I now have a X. I get very few voicemails so the box is never full. After a Google search, I see the problem also occurs with AT&T and other companies.
I’ve been having the same issue for months. It’s actually cost me business.
I have cleared out all old voicemails. I have done the Network reset. I have tried Airplane Mode and Do Not Disturb. I have turned it off and back on.
All of these MULTIPLE TIMES.
My outgoing message now asks that they text or email me because my voicemail DOES NOT WORK!
I am having the same issue as well - I've missed some important calls.
Strangely it seems an old voice mail will suddenly appear when a new voice mail comes in.
My clients need to be able to leave me messages. Please help resolve this issue!
I'm having the same problem. iphone 6.
Getting delayed voicemails weeks later is very inconvenient, especially if it was an important message, and we cannot have that, Kaydee27. We will have to look further into your missed calls as well as they seem to be correlated. When did this first start to happen for you? Does the majority of this happen in one location, like the inside of your home? On a typical day, what does your phone display in terms of a signal when off of Wi-Fi(4G/LTE, 3G, 1X)? JoeyM_VZW
bonnierr, ensuring you are receiving voicemails on your iPhone 6 is crucial, and I am here to help. Are you having an issue receiving standard or visual voicemails? How long have you been having this issue? Are you able to browse the internet and or use applications successfully when not connected to a Wi-Fi network?
KevinM_VZW
I have the same problem. I had it turned off by calling but 10 minutes later the 30 day trial came on again and I can not access my regular voicemails.
Continue to have this same issue. None of the solutions being presented seem to correct the issue. Is this a carrier or device issue???
I have this same problem and only once a new voicemail comes in, will I then see that I have a previous voice mail that I never even knew about. I can see that I have had the incoming calls/missed calls but I do not know that someone has left me a message until the next time someone leaves me a message and then for some reason both of the messages are there? This is very frustrating!
We definitely understand that having delayed voicemails is quite a hassle, amc02g. We want to ensure that we get this issue corrected for you and anyone else experiencing this issue with their devices. To get a better understanding of what is happening to your specific device, can you please tell us the make and model? Also, are your calls, texts, and data working well? Lastly, does this seem to happen mostly indoors, or anywhere?
AnnaG_VZW
Is there a solution to this yet? I feel like we keeping getting the same responses that Verizon needs to look into this. I have an IPhone x - 100% updated - no other issues. Just dont get my voicemails in a timely manner, could be days or weeks later. Please advise what can be done because these suggested reboots dont work!!!!
I have a Samsung S9+ and voicemails have not been received for about 3 weeks. First I get an error that there is a problem with Voicemail. Then I have to Restart phone, go into Voicemail and Refresh in order to pull in voicemails. The only way I know I have a voicemail is the error notification that replays until I Restart, Refresh.
Annoying and it wasn't this way when the phone was new. My email is michele.ray01@gmail.com and appreciate a response. I will also DM via Twitter.
I rely on my voicemail to keep me informed of new messages and want you to be able to rely on your messages as well, lora5b. We'd like to take a closer look into what's going on. Visual voicemails require a cellular signal to function. Please turn off Wi-Fi and ensure cellular data is on. Then test out your voicemail to see if you experience the same issue. Please let us know how this goes. When did this issue start?
DanielleR_VZW
I am having the same problem. I randomly had three VM’s come in today, one was dated Feb 20th, today is 3/25!!! Two of the “lost” VM’s were doctors offices where I was waiting for callbacks. I am pretty annoyed right now.
I am also having this problem with my iphone 8.....this is so bad my sons school called and I DID NOT KNOW...what is the resoloution to this problem
Fortunj1,
It can certainly be annoying to learn that you've had voicemail messages that weren't delivered when they were left. We're here to help determine what's going on. Visual Voicemail relies on the cellular data network in order to deliver messages to your phone. If you turn cellular data off or are in an area where cellular data does not work at all times, you may experience delayed messages. In between the dates of 2/20 and 3/25, had any voicemail messages been delivered to your phone at all? For these dates, do you have a corresponding missed call? So that we can check the coverage in your area, please provide the cross streets to the intersection nearest you and the city you're in.
ShawnteJ_VZW
My problem isn’t as extreme but it is still VERY annoying; voicemails have been popping up 12-24 hours after the caller left them. I’ll see the missed call, but it looks like they didn’t leave a message, then it arrives many hours later. This is garbage, it never used to do this. I have an iPhone 6 running version 12.1.4. I installed it a week ago or so, but this was happening long before then.
It's our priority to provide a seamless network experience and we are concerned to hear that you are experiencing challenges with your voicemail. We would love the opportunity to help you in any way we can. When did this start? Is any other service being impacted?
RachelM_VZW
I am assuming after reading thru this thread that Verizon has not come up with any fixes that work other than the same same.. reboot,,, re initiate... all things we do till we get sick of dancing and give up that Verizon will find a solution. If somebody has found one,, I would like to know the fix. I have had my Iphone 6s Plus for a while. Verizon voice mails coming in a day to a few weeks late is the normal and very unreliable. Nobody wants to call and be put on hold.. told to reset ten things.. all to have nothing get fixed,,, as if Verizon had one they would have posted it instead of making all these people chase their tales. Any users have any fixes besides dropping Verizon?
I have the same problem and have an Android phone. So frustrating!! I'm ready to add directions on my outgoing message I have Verizon service and I don't get voicemail in a timely manner so please text me if you need to reach me right away.
sickofthis6, we understand your concern in regard to your Voicemail. Do you use basic or visual voicemail?
LauraL_VZW
Do those of you having this problem have the "Call Filter" or "Call Filter Free" service enabled on the affected lines? I have a suspicion this is related.
I received a junk call today and they left a voicemail. Their voicemail triggered a junk voicemail from Saturday to come through as well. What's interesting is that there's no record of Saturday's call in my phone's recent calls list, and I was defintely in cell service that day. I wonder if the "Call Filter Free" service blocked the call and the voicemail notification at that time as well.
You may be on to something. I have an Android, and the same thing is happening to me, but it is a bit more... sporadic... both with VM's AND Texts! The sort of "straggle" in, taking anywhere from a few hours to a day or two. In any case, this is unacceptable! I miss important items, so when I finally come in contact with the person, they say things like "I tried to get a hold of you earlier...?" or "Where WERE you??". Things like that. NOT cool at all!! SOOooooo... what gives? I use an Android PLAY 2 (don't laugh), and it's a great phone... untill now. But it would seem that it may not be the PHONE that is the culprit here...?
Thanks for reporting that to us, jalaberto, that's a rather unique situation and I am so sorry this is still affecting you. As far as the voicemail delays, we are aware of this issue and still investigating for a resolution. Have you tried the troubleshooting steps previously mentioned such as checking your software version, and performing the network reset? You can find the software version by navigating to your settings>general>about. If your software is up to date, please reset your network settings and see if your device works properly again. We are anxious to know your results since it's an urgent concern. Here are the steps in this link:

Nimrod66, I rely on my messages, and always get important calls regarding my family, and business things. I would be very concerned as well if they were not coming in on time. Hours to days is way too long to wait. I am here to help and we will get to the bottom of this. When did this start with the delays? Do the delays occur in the same place or random places? What is the exact make and model of your device? SantoC_VZW
I have tried all of the suggested solutions. This has happened with 3 different phones over the course of 6-7 years so I didn't think any troubleshooting solution would work, and they did not. I'm glad I'm not the only one only because now it's finally getting some attention after I've reported the issue so many times over the years.
Sandimascharvel,
We understand how important your Voicemails and messages are to you. We want to tackle both of these issues for you. You mentioned that this has happened on several different phones. Do you notice any pattern to when this happens? is it always the same time of day or the same location? Does it happen to any other users?
JenelleR_VZW
Too soon to know if I am on to something, but I just tried something and it seemed to help.
In the app permissions for my voice mail, it did not have permission for storage. So I enabled that. Had my husband call me and leave a message, and I got the notification in about a minute or two.
Admittedly not the best test case because we are both home right now and on wifi together. Yesterday when I missed his voicemail he was out, I was home. Will test more when the situation allows
Ok had my son call from different city, and I got immediate notification of his voicemail also. This is promising
@jesker is this an iPhone setting? I can't find such a setting on my iPhone 6 Plus. Thanks in advance

I apologize for any confusion on checking for any iOS software updates on your iPhone 6 plus, Sandimascharvel. Also, I appreciate your willingness to do more testing on the voicemail issues. Have you tried powering off your devices and powering them on when doing the test? What's the current software version on your device? Here's a link to help you check the current software version https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-214981/ . Also, please ensure you're not connected to Wi-Fi when doing the test and let us know if you need further assistance.

I have the current iOS - 12.3.1. I have tried everything, but it doesn't have anything to do with my phone. This has happened with 3 different phones over 6-7 years. If Verizon and Apple cannot fix this then my only solution is to switch carriers and phones.
This happened again last week. On Thursday, someone left a voicemail. Along with it, 4 older voicemails got delivered and I nearly lost a customer because they thought I got the voicemail and was just ignoring them. It's an unacceptable glitch for work and for personal messages was well. Verizon and Apple must work quickly or you leave us no choice but to leave both companies. If it's not quickly fixed, I'll be looking at a Galaxy and AT&T as I'll have no choice. I can't afford to lose customers.
Hi, sorry I didn't see this until today. I have an Android phone. Not sure how the app permissions work on an iPhone.
No worries, let's make sure we get on the same page. The last post that we received from you confirmed that you were now receiving your voicemail notifications after you made a change in your device settings. Just to ensure that we are aligned, are you still having trouble? How long do you have to wait for voicemail notifications now?

I do a soft reset about once per week on my phone (power off). I also do a hard reset (power off with home button held down until reboot begins) once a week.
I'm on wifi only at home because otherwise my data would be a million GB every month but during the day, I'm not on wifi.
Customer service told me today that they are getting calls every day about this problem but there is no estimated time for a fix.
Get use to it. Our service has been that way for years. Verizon can't do anything about it.
@NoChoiceofService wrote: Get use to it. Our service has been that way for years. Verizon can't do anything about it.
True, I've been telling Verizon about this for 6-7 years. In the past, tech support would say things like "We will upgrade the 'priority' of your voicemail box" and other things that I knew were just to placate me because none of the "fixes" did anything. And why would my "priority" have been less before? Because I'm sure it wasn't true.
Shame on Verizon for never fixing this and now shifting the blame to Apple. I had this issue on an LG phone before I even had an iPhone. Plus, it's not just with voicemails, it's with text messages as well.
Most recently, I left an important voicemail for my fiancee last week. She never got it until I left another voicemail a day or two later, which triggered both to be delivered together. There are text messages I sent her months ago which she still hasn't received. This is inexcusable. Come on, Verizon.
I have the same problem as the other 129 users on this post. It has put me in multiple awkward situations with family and friends. I thought I was during something wrong. I have read through much of this thread and finally found the solution: Switch to AT&T when my VW contract is up.
