Gifted

I was gifted a Verizon Iphone4 from a girlfriend and was placed on her family plan. Since then we have broken up and she has shut the service off. Is it still possible to use this phone and activate it with a Verizon account using my name? I don't know if she has reported the phone lost, stolen, misplaced, or just shut off the service..fheir is no longer any communication between us, hell has no furry as a women scorned.

One way or the other, you need to find out the status of that phone with Verizon. If its listed as lost or stolen, you could wind up in serious trouble.

Here's some guy-to-guy advice...mail her that phone back and get yer own. You could wind up in an unholy mess if you pursue using that phone. Between that and the other baggage of breaking up a relationship, you REALLY don't need that.

Like mentioned...it's a sticky situation, but since the phone was given to you as a gift and at some point you were using the phone she can't claim the phone as lost or stolen without lying (which would likely get HER in trouble if she reported it in order to have the line shut off). Are you both no longer on speaking terms? Did she ask for the phone back or did she just shut the phone off? Regardless of which, it would be best for you to open your own line. If you two can at least have a civilized conversation you can discuss the status of the phone with her. If she didn't report it as lost or stolen you may be able to get the phone re-connected with the line being transferred to your name (if it hasn't been disconnected for too long which I doubt since the VZ iPhone hasn't been out for 2 months yet)...she wins because she doesn't have a line she's still responsible for (assuming she didn't pay an ETF fee). If she did pay the fee then you might be able to work something out with her where you pay her some portion of it...personally I wouldn't think she should be that petty when regardless of what happened to the relationship she gave you the phone as a gift...but we all know that matters of the heart don't always follow logic. If all else fails you can just chalk it up to a lesson learned...and just buy yourself a new iPhone. As far as sending it back to her...if she didn't ask for it I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just don't try to profit off of it by selling it unless you know it's ok to do so.

If you broke up with someone a month after she gave you an iPhone, sending it back to her is the right thing to do, IMO. It will show character, which is worth more than $200.

That is Definitely a Serious Case of i Don't NEED this phone. you could face many things an its not worth it. To make it leagal like i'd take to there Lawer an Turn it into them. So she has to pick up there an not try to pull anything over You. Thing of it is if she like to get nasty about things even though you send it back to her she may say she did'nt get it or if she did lye to you about it an still try to pull something on you. Takeing it to the Lawer stops her in her Tracks.

being the bigger person (and cutting ALL ties with her now) is ALWAYS worth more than a $200 phone. give it back to her and get your own plan. it's probably time that you have your own plan anyhow. you can try to activate it, but if it was reported stolen, you're in trouble. just this man's advice......DO NOT rely on your girlfriends for your cell phone plan. at some point you need to own the same number on a plan in your name.

Come on people, you're over reacting. He just needs to go to verizon store and tell them the whole story, if the phone has been reported stolen worst case is they won't activate the phone and just keep it, 'cause he most likely knows account holder name at least, or other numbers on the account. It's not like he came and doesn't know at least the name on the account.

Of course he knows the account holders name. It's his ex-girlfriend. He needs to give her back the phone.

Send it back to her certified mail. Then you have a receipt that it was delivered. Then do not lose the receipt.
