IPhone 4 wanted but have questions.

Hi, i just registered my new verizon account to ask some questions about iphone 4. So if this kinda question was already asked, please excuse me.

I have this verizon samsung reality phone with 2 years contract. it has not been 2years yet but i want to get an iphone black 16gb.

if i pay 2yrs contract termination fee and make a new 2yr contract with iphone 4, do i still pay 199$ for iphone ? (excluding data and plans. only the machine itself.) Or do i pay more ? I really want to get iphone 4 and was trying to get used iphone machine, but i just want to get my questions answered first. I need this answer asap. i mean its not like i terminate the contract and leave verizon for other carriers, i still will be remained in verizon so....yea.

Contact Verizon directly to get a more definite answer but assuming they do things right you should be able to get the phone for the $199 price after paying the ETF. Your other option is to pay full retail. Not sure how much ETF you will have to pay but if the total cost is close to what you would have to pay full retail you might want to consider paying full retail. Then you won't have to sign a new contract and will still be eligible for upgrade when your current contract is completed.

sigh.. so there is no way me to get iphone 4 unless i pay full retail(300$) or pay etf(300$)..

what if i get an used iphone 4 from some where ?

do I still need to pay etf for switching my account from my old phone to used iphone ?

If you can find a used CDMA iPhone 4 for much less than retail price then you can get it and be fine but you will probably be paying close to full retail for one at this point.

Just wanted to clarify that if you cancel your line, there is a 60-90 day waiting period to open another one. Your best bet would be to add a line to your account, purchase the iPhone 4 on that line (for $199) and then switch the iPhone 4 to your line, and put an older phone on the second line.

Or purchase a used iPhone 4 from eBay or Craigslist. This will not affect your contract and you will not have to terminate your line.

Sometimes if you're contract is up and it's close they'll allow you to get a new contract. I think you can get it if it's like a month away.

Probably the cheapest way to get the iPhone would be to switch to a Family plan and add a line like vereyezuhn suggested. To make it more economical, there are a few things you could do.

Do you have home phone service? Do you have good cell reception at your house? If the answer to both of these are yes, then you could go with Verizon's Home Phone Connect. Switch your plan to a Family Plan. On the new line, port your home phone # to Verizon Wireless and put the Home Phone Connect on that line. Make sure that you pay for the Home Phone Connect(only $129) and DO NOT sign a contract. You will then immediately be available for a discounted upgrade which you can use to get the iPhone for $199 on your original line. You can then cancel your home phone service from whomever you were receiving it and only have to pay the Verizon Wireless bill(Family plan with 2 lines and 1 data plan of $29.99) which will probably be less than the combination of your previous Verizon bill and home phone service bill.

It is a round about way of getting the iPhone, but it may save you money in the long run.
