IPhone 5

I don't fully understand yet why everyone is calling the new iphone thats coming out this year the iphone 5. Apple appears to only change the name when the phone has completely been redesign both on the outside and the inside and I know the one thats coming out this year and most likely next year are gonna look pretty much like the iphone 4. I'm  pretty sure the iphone 4 would run its course like the original iphone. (Iphone, 3G, 3GS) I'm thinking its the iphone 4 and this year and next year would be the (4g, then the 4GS) Not looking for an Iphone 5 till 2013 the earliest if apple releases the current gen of Iphones as they did the first gen which spanned 3 years.

I went to a Verizon store today to find out my phone number for the iphone 4 I ordered at 3AM, but unfortunately they couldn't help me.  However, I did ask about the Iphone5 and if there would be an opportunity to upgrade/trade up when it comes out this summer.  I was told "NO" that they would not offer any promotion to folks who just bought the Iphone 4.  That was a little annoying and I feel like Verizon should do something to offer a discount on upgrading, but I am too impatient to wait until the new phone comes out.

The clerk did say that he didn't think the new version would be much different from the Iphone 4.  Based on what he said, it sounded like it would be just like when Iphone introduced the Iphone 3G/3GS.  He said it was likely it would look the same and just have minor software updates.  That made me feel a  little better....As long as it is not a complete redesign I will not be upset to be stuck with the Iphone4.  I have AT&T now and hate the service so I am anxious to transfer to Verizon even though some of the capabilities (such as accessing the web while taking a call) will not be the same.  I think the negative attributes are not as important as better coverage, just my opinion.

I wouldn't totally give out hope for a deal for the current iPhone 4 people just because of one rep... from what I've heard they can pretty contradictory and it's doubtful that anyone outside of the higher ups would have info like that this early on

I agree...

The only early, across the board, upgrades that I have seen them give was the non smart phone upgrade to a smartphone deal last year... But to be honest, I was never worried much about upgrade until the androids started coming out. LOL I couldnt keep up with them so I started watching for upgrade promotions..and kept selling and paying full retail..

Yeah I don't think that the one that comes out in June is going to make our phones look old, it's most likely will just be internal changes nothing major on the outside.
