I am extremely PO'd. I woke up at 3 a.m. on the 7th to pre-order my iphone 4s and was told it would be shipped by the 14th. I was told to keep an eye out for my tracking confirmation. So I kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting. As of this morning I still had not recieved any tracking information, so I decided to call and see what the hold up was.
The rep tells me that their internet orders department had run into some kind of technical hiccup when trying to process my order. For some reason, they had attempted to bill my account rather than charge the card that I had entered, and the order was denied.
The rep was also unable to salvage the phone that I had pre-ordered, even though the order was still sitting out there in their system. So he explained to me that, for some reason the order didn't move beyond the confirmation into the shipping stage but that he could wipe that order out and start a new one, and I would still recieve my phone on the 14th. I was skeptical, but also out of options so I agreed.
it took him 45 minutes of (I'll give him this) dilligence to cancel the order. He said he needed to go through 4 separate departments to do it, but the order was gone. Then we went through the process a 2nd time, this time over the phone. After I hung up, I checked my email and the confirmation did not have a shipping date of the 14th. Instead, I am being told the 28th!!!
I called back and this time a woman picked up the phone, apologized for the incorrect information that was given to me, and proceeded to explain to me that because the previous rep had cancelled my order, I would now have to leave my original place in line and take a new one - and that phones ordered today will not arrive until the 28th.
I was ticked. I asked her to please have the original rep call me back, so he did. This time he told me that he was unaware that my NEW order would not be shipping on the 14th (or even the 21st for that matter), and that the estimated ship date on my order confirmation was correct (28th). He apologized.
I hate to be "that guy", but sorry just doesnt cut it right now. I waited, and woke up at 3 in the morning just to get this phone by the 14th. It was my sole intention. I've been so excited for this Friday to come, I can hardly stand it. This is my first iPhone, and now to find out that my phone will not arrive for another 2 weeks is just so dissapointing, especially considering I placed my order at 3:26 AM.
My original order number was 4-digits long. My new order number is 7-digits long. It's really depressing.
So the CS rep contacted the internet orders department and got as much info as he could and called me back. Apparently they have no explanation for what happened other than to call it a "glitch in the system". My order was just completely dumped for some reason.
He did apologize profusely, and without my having to ask for it, offered me a free accessory of $50 or less (I went with an altec lansing speaker). His name was Robert and he was a huge help but I still just cannot get over how bummed out I am about this!I
