People keep telling me that they can't hear me on my iPhone 6

I used my iPhone 6 for over a year and lately it seems that the call quality is not good.  I have been on the phone with several people over the last few weeks and I can hear them fine, but they can't really hear me.  They have told me that I fade in and out.  I am not using Bluetooth of anything like that so I am not sure what the issue is.  I am in a good coverage area so any guidance would be appreciated.

@august06

It’s important that your callers can hear you when you’re on calls. I would love to assist you.

When did this problem begin? What is the current software version of your device: http://vz.to/1OzZ3d2? Since this problem began, have you tried soft resetting the device: http://vz.to/1Od8EGs? Please keep me posted.

I am on iOS 9.2.1 which seems to be the latest version.

These issues started at the beginning of the year and have progressively gotten worse.

Yes, I have reset the device but nothing has been solved,

Thanks for sharing the iOS version august06, you have the latest version installed. Please reset the network settings this time and test. See steps at this link: http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/iphone-6-reset/

Exactly the same problem I was having. I could always hear fine, but people had trouble hearing me at times.

Problem solved by turning OFF advanced 4g calling (VoLTE) Even though advanced calling can sound a bit better, it just isn't as reliable as calls on the good ole 1x network.

I appreciate this feedback.  Exactly how would do this and does it effect anything else?

Not sure how to turn it off on an iPhone as I am an Android user. Not sure if anything else will be affected other than losing the ability to have simultaneous talk & data. On the plus side, it will improve battery life slightly.

august06, to use Advanced Calling you'd have to go into Settings > Cellular - and have Cellular Data turned ON then tap on Enable LTE and have a check mark in Voice & Data. To use HD Voice only you can turn OFF Cellular Data and have Voice Only selected in Enable LTE. So that's basically where the preferences in the settings are worked from.

Advanced calling is only going to work if you're calling another Advanced Calling capable iPhone and they also have the features turned ON.

Here's some info from Apple on testing the iPhone microphones. You might just have some dust collected in a microphone that's distorting the sound?

Are you using a case? I have a Lifeproof case which I think is causing me the same issue

I have this same issue. I have completed all the recommendations to no avail. in the meantime, I have discovered one other detail that I wonder if anyone else has as part of their issue and just doesn't realize it yet. I only have this issue when my phone is tilted (on my left ear) to the left. Whereas, I don't have this issue on the right side/right tilt. If it occurs, I can tilt to the right and it clears up. Does anyone else notice this?

I registered just so that I could reply back to this. The microphone is a small hole on the left bottom of the phone next to the headphone jack. You will notice (at least for me) when I hold the phone it is on a downward slant which means when I hold the phone on the left side of my face the bottom right is nearer to my mouth and on the right side of my face the left side (where the hole is) is nearer to my mouth. This might account for why it sounds fine on the right side of your face. Test it and see if it is true for you also.

Thanks,

Jeff

PS. I found this on Google because I have also been having people complaining that they can barely hear me.

Same problem here recently on iPhone6S. Caller can't hear me, but I can hear them.  Caller tells me I cut in and out.

This certainly isn't the experience we want you to have. Please tell me, does the call drop when you're indoors? How much space is on your device?  VanetrisC_VZW

I'm having this same issue. Were you ever able to get it fixed? I have the samsung galaxy s7 and am less than 1/4 mile from a verizon tower.

We want your phone to be problem free, fjo302. How often is this occurring on your calls? When did this start? Please provide details of what you experience.
