Try hard resetting your phone.  Press and hold the home and lock buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.  After the phone reboots, give your iPod function another whirl.

Here is a BGR report on the next firmware update.  Note that it potentially includes bug fixes to the IPOD app.

I didn't go to the link but based on the info shown it would seem that the update being discussed is not relevant to the VZ iPhone since we aren't currently on 4.3. Personally I haven't noticed an iPod bug on my iPhone (I also didn't update from 4.2.6 so I'm not sure if the issue is related to the newest update or if I'm just lucky) but perhaps whatever our next update is it will address any iPod bug that may exist.

I went to the link and it does mention iPod bug fixes (along with the location issue fix and some more battery improvements) as part of this update.  However as you noted Kaebfly it is iOS 4.3.3 and not applicable to the current Verizon iPhone build line (of which is currently iOS 4.2).  I couldn't find any references to whether or not the VZW iPhone is going to get an update, but I imagine so, being it is affected by the 'location' issue as well.  I'm not surprised that they didn't mention Verizon... Probably because we're the minority out there in the iPhone world and not generally mentioned in iPhone circles!  Anyway we'll probably see something at the same time.. iOS 4.2.8 likely.  You know Apple better get us updated soon...  We're running out of build numbers for iOS 4.2! :smileyvery-happy:

Hello Terrib,

Sorry to hear about your ipod issue. It sounds like the ipod functionality has crashed. If the reset didn't work that was mentioned earlier, try switching to a manual sync for your music. If that doesn't work, then a restore would be the best option.

Best of luck.
