VERY SLOW payment processing

I have always asked for paper billing. I still get online notice of my upcoming payment due. When I do get the paper bill it is processed and mailed the very next day.  That mailed payment take over 20 days to get to Verizon and be processed. I get past due notices and late fees applied due to my next bill. Verizon is the only company I deal with that takes this long to process a payment.  I know the USPS does not take 20 days PLUS to get a envelope to VERIZON. Mail delays are not every month.

I get the feeling that Verizon either has very poor payment processing or they are attempting to get everyone to switch to online billing.  Does anyone who prefers paper invoice have this problem?

J330,

We are so sorry for the trouble. We do process our payments as quickly as possible. We have noticed a delay with the postal system delivering all mail, including our statements to you. We want to help you eliminate these fees. We do have many options to pay including online options. You can still receive a paper bill but pay online to save the stamp. Your bank may also have a payment option to electronically send the payment to us.

it’s not the USPS. first class mail takes a few days tops from my ZIP code to the payment address. a $395 check was posted nearly a *month* ago.. .

i’ve had to contact customer support several times, and somewhere in every chat/call the rep tried to shuffle the buck back under the postal service’s aegis. nonsense.  i am waiting, and will almost certainly have my service interrupted for non-payment, even after an extension. the USPS is not taking weeks to move an envelope two states northward, is it verizon forgetting to check the mailbox? do they just wait and deposit all check payments once a leap year? my son uses his ipad on this plan for school. i was impossibly blessed to have a local charity group help me by clearing my entire balance PLUS a month ahead after i fell behind while changing jobs and moving.  their method of helpin folks involves mailing paper checks to various utilities at risk for interruption. it was vehemently confirmed to me that the check was on a USPS truck the same day it was written, again, three weeks or more ago.

PLEASE look into this, verizon. it’s $395, so it’s not insignificant, nor is my kid’s ability to do his homework.

my name, and my account and telephone numbers were written on the memo line. i can NOT have this service interrupted, it’d cause so many problems.

We're terribly sorry for all the issues you've encountered with your payment. Have you contacted your bank regarding this check? Have you contacted our financial service team to advise them of the situation?
