I have had this issue with my iPhone 6s and then I got an iPhone 8 plus, still the same thing. I've tried going through *86 and deleting them, then going into the green phone screen to physically delete them. Sometimes they come right back and other times they stay gone until I get a new voicemail. I've tried turning on airplane mode and turning off wifi, deleting, then turning off airplane mode and turning on wifi. That doesn't work either. I'm really annoyed with this issue.

Hi Melcan72, is the iPhone completely updated with the latest Apple iOS which is 12.1.2 and the latest Verizon Carrier version which is 35.0.2
The Verizon Carrier version would be of importance where it refers directly to Verizon that handles the voicemail.
If you go to Settings > General > About , in the menu there should be Version for iOS 12.1.2 just below that will be Carrier and Verizon 35.0.2

MELCAN72, keeping your voicemails organized is imperative to ensure that you do not miss any important information. We are here to work toward a resolution on the problems with voicemails not deleting. Salisbury provided some great tips. How are other services on the phone working? Have you noticed any patterns on the voicemails that come right back? Do all other voicemail features function properly?

I have this problem, too. None of the solutions I've found here or elsewhere on the Web are effective. This is recent - so please just go back to whatever you were doing before to manage emails. This is basic stuff that Verizon should get right. Please fix it. Please fix it.

ChrisDay9, we understand the importance of making sure your Voicemails are being permanently deleted. We appreciate the steps you have taken so far in efforts to resolve this concern. Allow us the opportunity to further review. May we have the Make/Model of your device? Also, how are you accessing your voicemail? What steps are you taking to delete your Voicemails?

We certainly want to get to the bottom of this with you. When did this first start? Have you attempted to manually call your Voicemail and erase the message? EllisandraC_VZW

Melcan72, my first thought was possibly Verizon carrier version unfortunately that was of no help. Where you've tried airplane mode, *86, and physically deleting from the iPhone. I seem to think this has something to do with back up and Apple or iCloud especially where you've changed iPhones. It seems like some back up is in a loop on restoring voicemails? What is showing up in your iCloud account? Is there more than one iPhone? Can you try turning off iCloud back up in the settings? I've read before where visual voicemail can be saved with iCloud, have you ever used that?

That is very strange, but nothing we can't handle! What type of phone do you have? How do you normally review your voicemails? MichelleH_VZW

I am having the same problem with my iPhne 10XS Max. I delete the voicemails, then reboot my iphone and when I call my Iphone from my landline, I still get Veriso's message stating voicemail is full and then it hangs up. I NEED THIS FIXED!!. I am on hold tring to reach Verison tech support (65 Minutes so far). I expect to my call to be "dropped" soon and I will have to call back-- UGG!
I do not see a fix from Verison on this site rhat works. If Verison service is so bad, why am I paying twice what I could pay w/ Consumer Cellular? Maybe their voicemail works.

First, we want to apologize for the delayed response, as we've been handling a larger than average volume of messages recently. I want to make sure that you get all the assistance that you need. Can you please tell me what's happening when you try calling *86 to access your voicemail? Do you have any voice messages there? Share details.
