Boy you are really new at this aren't you?  Anyway to answer your questions....

1)  The iphone 4 (any model) is a 3G phone.  It will never support 4G as its hardware is not compatible.  No one knows when Apple will adopt 4G technology.  IMO... maybe the iPhone 5, but probably the iPhone 6, both of which are future products.

2) The Verizon (CDMA) iPhone has not been updated to iOS 4.3 yet.  We are still down at the iOS 4.2 level.  Apple is currently maintaining two separate build lines for the two iPhone models (GSM and CDMA).  iOS 4.3 (and it's updates...iOS 4.3.2 is the most current) is ONLY for the GSM model iPhone.  Nobody knows when or if the Verizon iPhone will ever be bumped up to iOS 4.3.  IMO... not going to happen.  The Verizon iPhone may still receive security updates or perhaps minor tweaks (as it did with iOS 4.2.7), but  will not see a major update until iOS 5 (I hope!)  Again in my opinion.

3) Wifi has to be initiated by you (assuming you have it turned on).  There's plenty of free wifi access points out there... a lot of libraries, book stores, coffee shops, even restaurants have them.  Once you've initiated a wifi function... Safari or what-not, the phone will prompt you to make a connection.  At home, most people have their broadband wireless routers setup as a secure hotspot of which the iPhone connects to whenever it's in range (after you enter the security string).  Note that once the iPhone has established a wifi connection it will remember it and automatically connect whenever you're in range.  Check your settings under settings/general/network/wifi and make sure that wifi is on and 'ask to join networks' is also on.

Good luck.  Hope this helps to clear things up.

Well.. you are either really really new to this tech stuff or too young.. Sorry, not trying to be rude. But thanks for posting, i and many others will be glad to answer your questions.

1. Apple has stated that 4G is not ready for the iPhone and we won't be seeing it anytime soon. The current iPhone 4 is a 3G only device, that runs on Verizons 3G Netowork. Which i should point out is fast enough to get most things done.

2. The update for 4.3 isn't ready for the Verizon version as yet, but it should be out soon. Its not verizons fault its when apple is ready to relase updates for this version of the iPhone 4.

3. WiFi depends on the kind of signal you are getting from a router. Its completely optional and you should be using your 3G service that you are paying for.

And lastly , you should have done some research or gotten some advice as to what verizon has to offer and getting a plan and phone that will suit your needs before saying that your bill is so high. Anyways i hope you get everything solved and enjoy your iPhone.

Cheers!

Well. First place when I meant about the 3G thing is cus my iPhone 4 is not working with or no wifi. I'm not new OnThis, now the cath about this is even I woul like to have service that want I was paying $ 140.00 . So for each and every special thing I have to more. But thanks anyway, cus one thing I know is that AT&T and Verizon just to have something to move their busines always end setting up a crazy contract which people most of them they can't afford it. See I can get the i9 from boost mobile and only pay 50.00 a month for everything I want. But the point is I like apple for security reasons. And as a consumer I suggest to help me or any other user to improve their services as well.cuz at this point their should be no problems at all with this device. And if was rude understand the bill and compare to other devices how hey work for less.

I really think you need to look closely at the message that you posted; this is horrible. Your writing is very difficult to read; I have a ten year-old son who writes/texts more coherently than you.

Cheers!

hmm..well it seems you are having some trouble and/or giving our fellow members some too haha..ok on a serious note :

1. You say its a '3g Thing' and that the phone dosen't work with or without WiFi (hope i am right). If so call verizon, you may have poor 3G connection, didn't activate the phone correctly or theres some funny business going on that your not telling us.

2.You can have an iPhone and pay as little as $70 a month..That $140 of yours is a little too high for me unless you have more lines.

3.This isn't At&t..Verizon does things differently and contracts are there for  certain reasons. Their business will always move along because they have the best phones and reliable service to offer customers like you and i.

4. If he i9 from boost for $50 suits you then no need to stress over the iPhone.

5. You like apple for security reasons, i like apple because they taste good..As for apple the company they make excelllent products but in terms of security, a bamboo plant is safer than any cell phone you have.

6.I don't quite understand the rest of your post but, if its help you need , the community is always here as long as you type/speak clearly so we can understand what is it you are asking. I really hope you get everything sorted out because the iPhone is awesome but if you can't afford it then, verizon may not be for you. Good Luck.

Cheers

JaySean

I would really like to help and give my input... But unfortunately I cannot understand any of your posts.... I hope JaySean and the others have answered your questions, because I sure can't.

As for the WiFi/3G thing... You have to turn on WiFi and be in an area that has WiFi. Same with 3G, if you are not in a Verizon service area, you will not get service. It's not a problem with the phone. It sounds like your area does not have great coverage from Verizon. Perhaps you should switch to Boost Mobile as you (I think?) suggested.

Undertaker...don't take this the wrong way, but the previous poster is correct...it is a bit difficult to read your posts. I'm not sure if you're posting from your phone or if your sentences are just jumbled, but it's hard to follow what exactly you're trying to get across. As far as your bill, it's not the iPhone alone that is making your bill high. Any smartphone is going to be higher than the "dumb" phones out there because of the added data plan requirement. You can have your iPhone service for cheaper than the amount you stated...but that is dependent on your use and needs. If you can deal with a lower minute plan then that's one way to cut your costs. If texting isn't a must that is another cut. Ultimately though you have to either change your habits/adjust your "needs" or base your decisions on what you can afford (ie taking advantage of the Boost option you listed even though it's not the brand you prefer...just depends on what is more important. Ability or wants).

Now as far as your services not working...what have you tried to do in order to trouble shoot the issue? Please be as clear as possible so that maybe one of us can offer some suggestions that may help. If your issue is a common issue chances are a thread (or many) already exisit on here or the Apple Support site and mayhave solutions or reasons why the issue is happening. You may also want to try calling Apple for tech support if you want help that can go further than users offering what help they can.
