Be on the look out for another update to the iPhone 4. The update is meant to address a security vulnerability with certificatevalidation per phonedog.com. For some reason this posted twice. Don't know why.
Another (yawn) mostly meaningless update. True, I'm glad that security issues are being addressed, but the vast majority of iPhone users probably wouldn't be attacked in this manner assuming they follow some general common sense in terms of how they use their smartphone...
You know I'm personally boycotting any more of these types of updates until something real and meaningful comes along (like iOS 5). Lately all these Verizon iOS 4.2 updates only serve to remind me of the fact that we were largely left out in the cold with iOS 4.3, iCloud (beta), etc.
-- yeah I know pretty pointless protest, but at least it's something to give me the illusion that I'm striking back!

And who am I worried about getting my phone info because mine isn't very critical and if apple and or Verizon don't fix my problem then I am sorry to both of them and I am going to opt out of my contract and leave the service and the software behind. It has so much of a stangle hold on what you do it's pathetic I use to like the service till this happened and if someone in the next 2 to 3 weeks doesn't get untouched with me and agrees the issue the GOODBYE. And y'all how posted that upgrade is pointless you absolutely right I think it should be your choose what you do and how you do it. I mean talk about security problems I don't want anyone to looke at my phone especially the manufacturer thanks again apple I'll fall right in line just like a sheep... I don't think so. FREEDOM OF CHOISE not CHOISE of apple!!.
If your phone updated to iOS 4.2.10 (or any of the previous updates) then it wasn't without your consent (or someone else that had access to your iPhone and iTunes to complete the update). You or someone had to connect your iPhone to a computer and update it within iTunes for now. In the future we're supposed to be able to update OTA, but for now, iOS updates are done through the computer and iTunes. If you didn't or don't want to update to the latest iOS update available then decline the update each time it pops up in iTunes when you connect your iPhone. I have not updated to 4.2.10...not because I'm worried about it...but because I rarely update immediately. I usually wait to see what others say about the update and if I feel like I need the update I do it. If I don't, I decline it each time. Same thing with my iPod Touch...decline the updates if you don't want them.
I was having an issue with my screen being locked up, so I had to do a restore. When I restored my phone, it automatically updated it to 4.2.10!! Did not want that at all!!
