iPhone 5- Verizon rep said NO phones will be shipped before 9/21...?

So, after my order kept saying 'does not exist' I called verizon... was on hold for 30 minutes and finally get a representative on the phone which I told the following to:
I ordered my phone at 2:04am CST on 9/14, I immediately received a confirmation email with my order number.

When I go to "Check your Order Status" and enter my order number and last name, it says this order does not exist.

She informed me the order will not show on the order status page until it has shipped and it will not ship until 9/21. I questioned why my email said DELIVER BY: 9/21, and she said that is wrong... The release date is the 21st and no phones can be shipped until they are released. Has anyone else talked to hopefully a more competent representative who has told them something different??

Also, is anyone else seeing the "Order does not exist" message? Everything online is saying later orders will be shipped later, but I ordered mine early.... Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

It will ship either the 19th or 20th depending on your location with 2day or overnight shipping and be in your hands on the 21 (launch date) Verizon reps don't know anything I have pre ordered the 4, 4S and 5 and always get the phone on launch day.

Yea they are full of it. if you ordered within the first our of pre order launch then your going to get it by the 21st. the rep i talked to last night said i could get it thursday or even wednesday.

Look at your Email confirmation...It should read something like:

Preorder Confirmation: ************

Order Number: ********

Order Location: *******

Deliver By: 09/21/2012

Yeah. Don't listen to the CSR. You got one that had no idea what he/she was talking about. Deliver by the 21st means delivered by the 21st. They'll ship middle of the week and may even get to you early.

(Source: I've done this whole square dance before, with the 4 and the new iPad.)

I spoke with a Verizon CSR this morning (Business Center CSR) and they stated that if you are in the first shipment you could possibly get it before the 21st but definitely on the 21st. But again the majority of the time CSR do not know when the phones are coming and you usually will get 10 different answers, so hang tight. if you want further clarification, i highly suggest heading to twitter and tweeting @vzwsupport they offered a lot of help when i first placed my order.

Yeah. If you ordered it from Verizon, which I'm assuming you did, there's a slight chance you get it early. However, if you ordered through Apple, there's no chance in hell. One, if you order it through Apple, chances are it's getting sent here straight from China. Second, Fed-Ex has an agreement in place with apple that they hold the shipment and deliver 100% on the release date.

I got this email this morning....

9/21/2012. And it included a FedEx tracking number..... I checked that, and it says "not Found" right now, but that's normal...

Orders are being shipped prior to 9/21 but once you receive FedEx tracking info you will notice in the "comments/details" it says "Future Delivery Requested." Most likely, Verizon made sure to note not to deliver shipment before Sept 21st. Of course some of these order comments may be missed by FedEx and delivery folks but for the majority, they have been advised to no deliver to recipients before Friday.

I just got my FedEx tracking number! No other info though...can't track it. But, it did have this:

Your Order Status

Your Verizon Wireless order is being processed. The expected delivery date for your order is 9/21/2012.

I preordered the iPhone 4 and received it BEFORE the launch date, as did many....but I'll agree that the reps in the past have gotten it wrong with their info. Mainly because I don't think it is communicated to them clearly in the first place. Ultimately, expect the iPhone no later than the 21st IF that is the date your preorder status provides, but don't be surprised if it arrives a day or two earlier (despite the notices on the carriers websites stating that iPhone orders can not be delivered before the 21st...I say this only because the same notice existed during the iPhone 4 preorder yet delivery for a lot of people occurred before the date shown).

So... on my order status page, it says my estimated ship date is OCTOBER FIFTH! I ordered in the first 3 minutes it went live on Verizon's website. Does anybody else get this when checking?

I ordered it at 3:01am Eastern time when it went Live. That's eastern time, and according to all the emails and press releases it was going to Pre-Order sales at 12 Midnight, pacific. lol, you two are hysterical :smileyhappy:

I ordered at 3:01 EDT and I have already received my shipment notice. My phone is in Memphis, TN and is scheduled to be at my house by 3 pm on Friday, September 21st. I really think the people actually filling the preorders are on top of things.

I'm in Nebraska and earlier today I received an email from Verizon confirming my Iphone 5 has shipped and provide the FedEx tracking number. It is being shipped standard overnight and is currently in Memphis, TN. I believe the phone will be to my local FedEx tomorrow, however the shipping invoice lists that my phone will delivered on Sept. 21st by 3:00 pm. Verizon has requested FedEx to delay delivery until the 21st. I can always hope that FedEx delivers it to me early :smileyhappy:

still waiting on the shipment notice BUT i did fine that ups ha been told by Apple to hold shipment of iphones. I know that Verizon delivers FedEx and luckily I havent seen anything similiar on the Fed Ex website so it might not come from Verizon if there is that request, it could be from Apple; however, Apple deals directly with UPS and Verizon deals with FedEx so there is still the chance that some phones might come early. Anyone else waiting for a shipment confirmation?

like any Apple-fanatic, I ordered my white 64 gb iPhone 5 at 3:01 EST and got my pre-order confirmation email less than 10 mins later... with that email it said "Delivery by 9/21/12"....After reading people receiving their tracking numbers and seeing the order status changing, I called Verizon and this what they said..

"our system shows your order will be shipped on 9/21, and you can expect your order to order to arrive between 9/23 - 9/25...." has anyone else heard this? I thought pre-orders were guaranteed to be delivered by the 21st?

Has anyone cancelled their pre-order to pick one up on the 21st instead?

I'm annoyed to have to wait a few more days, but to me its the principle behind it. Guaranteed delivery means guaranteed delivery... not oh we will ship it out on the previous delivery date...

From what I gathered from the VZW rep I spoke with, she said there is no way to cancel once your card has even a pending transaction on it.. With that said, I completely agree with you!!!

They have told me the same thing - that it will SHIP ON 9/21/2012. However, from everything I've heard and read - I still plan on receiving the phone on Friday the 21st. All of my order confirmations and status checks with Verizon (automated, online) show Delivery ON 9/21/2012. I was up ordering in the middle of the night as well.

It seems to me that this release is a little bit of a mess - I've never done any pre-ordering of anything before, but there is SO much mixed information coming from Verizon, Apple, UPS, FEDEX and previous pre-orderers that I just figure I'll get it when I get it. I'm sure it'll be here Friday - who knows. I hope you get your shipping confirmation soon and the phone arrives for you - on time!

Ordered in first 3 minutes, and my order status still says that my expected ship date is 9/20/2012. It probably won't be here for me on Friday, and Fedex doesn't deliver on Saturdays unless you pay extra. Super sad, at the moment.

Verizon customer service rep told me the same thing last night. At 10:30 I got the shipping confirmation with a DELIVERY DATE of the 21st. It is currently in transit on Fed Ex. Verizon's communication on this preorder has been absolutely dismal. I've called 4 times and got completely different answers each time.

My order status currently shows this. Credit card charged last night, but still no courier or ship date. Extremely confused and so annoyed at Verizon for giving out different answers to the same question.

I am showing the same order status and my card still has a pending charge. I wouldn't sweat it, I would bet any money that you get the phone by Friday. I ordered around 4:15am, confim email was recieved quickly and I have not yet received a tracking #/shipping email. My guess...we see that shipping email today and it ships via FedEx or UPS 2 day...receive by Friday. That has been my experience in the past.

When I check my status it says "Expected Ship Date: 09/21/2012". I put my order in at around 5am MST. When I received my email conformation it said it'd be delivered by 09/21/2012. I haven't seen any charges to my credit card yet or an update on the status of my shipment. I did email verizon yesterday to see when it'd actually ship or deliver and here's the response I got: We apologize for the inconvenience, but your order has been received and is in our system as a pre-order for the iphone 5. This order will automatically complete on the release date. Since the order is to be completed at a later time, you may not be able to check the progress of the order. At this time there are no updates. You will receive another email regarding your order on the ship date. Your order is expected to ship no later than 09/21/2012, you may receive it as early as the 21st. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this matter may have caused.

So for now I'm in limbo but I sure do hope my order shows up on the 21st, I'd just wish there was better updates so we knew the status of what is actually going on?

Check your receipts in my Verizon , you will see a shipping information. Mine is in the same situation. It shows FedEx 2 day shipping. I have been through this in iPhone 4 as well as iPhone 4S. We will get them on Friday.

My order status says will ship on 9/20, and that receipt shows that I have

2 day shipping, which means it would get here on Saturday. However... FEDEX

doesn't deliver on Saturday unless it's home delivery, which its not.

Don't look at the order status, look at the date of receipt. It should be 19 for 2 day and 20 for overnight. Also your credit card charge will give you this idea as well. As soon as its charged, they ship them. It take 24 hrs to update the system,, which is we're the delay is.

They process it by the time you ordered...since you waited longer (dont know why you would lol), yours got pushed down the line. So, the people that purchased right after midnight PST will get theirs first.....and....I am one of em!!...getting mine either tomorrow or Friday for sure

FEDEX will deliver the phones on Friday the 21st by 3PM. They have the phones but can not deliver them before "Apple's" release date. My credit card was charged on the 17th and my tracking from FEDEX shows Friday by 3.

I put in my order almost 4 hours after they went on sale on 9/14 and I just received tracking info, my phones will be here tomorrow(21st). Can't wait, pretty cool!

I pre-ordered my iPhone 5 via telephone on Fri. Sept 14. The Verizon rep told me my card would be charged on Weds. Sept. 19 and the phone would be shipped and I would receive it by Fri. Sept. 21. Since, by Thurs. Sept. 20 I STILL had not heard from Verizon, I called to ask about the order status.

The rep said that NO ONE WILL RECEIVE their new Verizon iPhone 5 prior to Sept 26!! I was indignant, since the rep who took my order gave me misinformation. But the bottom line is that Verizon, whether on purpose or accidentally, gave the wrong info to their customer service reps who took iPhone orders.

So all of us who thought we would have our iPhones on the first available day without having to wait in long lines at the store were sorely mistaken. I won't believe the rep's time-frame promise the next time a new product is launched through Verizon Wireless.

delivered on release day prior to 1630. So you are mistaken. And we've all

learned to not listen to the phone reps, because they've all told everybody

something different.

I just rechecked my original order confirmation email from Verizon. And, indeed...it said the order was set for "delivery ON 9-21-12." So the misinformation given me by the customer service rep when I ordered on 9-14-12 (that I would receive my new iPhone 5 by 9-21-12) was WRONG information PURPOSELY given to customers. If it had just been the agent's mistake, the order confirmation would not have guaranteed delivery by 9-21.

Verizon obviously convinced customers to pre-order the iPhone 5 via phone by LYING TO US about the delivery date. Bad move, Verizon.

Bowlingirl - not necessarily so. I ordered mine at 9:27 AM EST 9-14 and my email, like yours, said "delivery 9-21-12".

I never saw any updates and when I called I was told that since I ordered AFTER 9AM, I would be in the set of shipments that SHIPPED on 9-21. (To say I was pissed because I took off a day from work and also arranged for some work that was being done in our house because I figured I would be home anyway.....)

Well - yesterday (Thursday) I saw a pending charge on my Visa account. This morning at round 10AM I got the shipping email with the confirmation number from FEDEX indeed indicating a delivery tomorrow, 9--21, by 3PM.

But up until my account was changed to "processing", everything I saw online (which is the same system the reps see) said "shipping 9-21". So don't say that all the reps are lying - they are only reading what they see on their screens.
