Blacklisted IMEI

Hello there,

I bought this iphone from Facebook marketplace from someone a couple of weeks back. The phone was unlocked and everything seemed good. I even contacted apple and they told me it is fit to purchase. From a past few days I have not been getting network services, so I contacted my carrier and apple and I got to know that the seller reported it stolen or lost and did an insurance fraud. I am stuck with this, I did a police complaint as well but they told me only Verizon can help me with with this. I have all the chats and the payment proof that I bought this phone. I am an international student and I literally can't afford to buy another phone now. I spend every penny of my savings on the phone. Could you please help me out please!??

I will provide you the IMEI, serial number, model number of the phone, cant you catch the the guy who bought it brand new and sold it to me I have already lodged a police complaint and I am trying to do everything please help!

I was told by the police that it can be fixed by verizon. please do something. I am an international student and I already spent every last saving on this phone. I am in a very bad situation. Please please do something. I can not afford to buy another phone please help. I can even provide the proof that I bought the phone, the transaction ID, chats, even CCTV footage.

I am having the exact same issue. I have documented everything and have a police report. I am desperate. I paid full price for my device from a FB marketplace seller. At the time, everything checked out. Now the device shows that it has a blacklisted IMEI. Can you please help?

I bought a phone and used it for nearly 7 months and now Verizon blacklisted it. It was unlocked and had good status when I purchased it. They said the previous owner did not pay his bill so they blacklisted it. I am not sure what to do but I feel like Verizon needs to go after the person who owes the debt rather than disable my phone. I might have to contact the AG and FCC but I’m hoping Verizon can see what’s going on here and assist me.

How can that happen if they went MIA after they sold it to me? Even the profile they used is no longer visible

I bought a pricey unlocked iPhone 13 Pro Max from Gazelle, in mid 2023, and have been using it problem free for 10 months on AT&T. It is now blacklisted and reported as "stolen" by Verizon!?!?

How can this happen? Could the previous owner do this, after they have sold it to Gazelle?

Also, although my phone in now listed as "stolen" by Verizon, it is an AT&T network phone. Maybe someone "fat fingered" the wrong IMEI into a system? It is very inconvenient, since I have to buy another phone, backup and transfer and return this one to Gazelle. Is there any way to find out how this happens? Seems to be something at Verizon that led to the problem.

For what it's worth, I am out of options with this particular phone. I cannot find out how it was blacklisted, since I did not buy it new and do not have consumer rights as a Verizon customer. Gazelle are kindly refunding me.

It appears to be a problem that can happen for any iphone (new or secondhand). In the case of a new purchase, an FCC or Verizon executive complaint can sometimes work. This reddit has more info:

i am having same problem i bought from Facebook market place it was brand new and unlocked. It worked fine, We went to vacation out side of US for 3 months since we return the phone wont work , i called your coustmer support for more than 50 times and explain everything they didnt help me and i went to your store multiple times they didnt help me they keep blameing each department in your company

One guy he mentioned when a phone purchased recently and take out of US it will get enrolled in lost and stolen list automatically by verizon..is it true.
