Am I alone... Is it Apple server that is over flowing... What's the deal ?
FIXED:
I had to call 1 (800) 922-0204
and then say "Activate", confirm my number
After that I turned off phone and back on and it worked.
Nope. I got mine delivered at 3:35EST and I cannot activate it either!
I am getting the same - unable to activate. Tried wifi and cellular and online - no success any of the three ways. "Activation server cannot be reached" Sounds like Verizon crashed or is overloaded.
I've turned mine off and on dozens of times now.
Worked me too. Automated activation process. My old sim card stopped working as soon as I pressed 1 to activate.
How do I call if I have no way to call bbefore phone is activated?
Yeah...I can't call from my new iPhone because it is NOT activated yet. VZW apparently did away with the CS chat feature here...asking for help on FB has been futile as well.
You call from your old phone or another phone. Just find a friend.
I had the same problem. If you are trying to do on wifi, unplug your router, or go down the street abut so that your phone connects to LTE. Turn off your phone and then on again..go thru first few setup screens until you get the wifi set up..think it's the third screen.. you should see at bottom of screen" connect to network, or something like that..can't remember exactly the wording.. the point is that you should on the LTE...this should allow you to activate over Verizon's network, and not over Wifi...worked like a charm for me !!
nothing has worked for me so far. even called and the guy couldnt do anything. he did say my old phone needed to be off, but that hasnt seemed to change anything for me either.
I could not get my phone to activate through the prompts on the phone. However, when I actually logged into my verizon account via my laptop and went to My Devices and then Activate a Device....I was able to activate my phone that way. Not sure why it wouldn't work turning the phone on and following the prompts, but via my pc it worked. It's currently downloading the latest update 10.0.1
I'm having the same problem, tried activating on wifi, lte, calling verizon and the support person basically told me to 'power it off and back on after three minutes' which translated to 'Go away'. She was so unhelpful. First name was Jen but I didn't get her last name of course.
Anyhow, I've been trying to activate through iTunes, wifi, and LTE for hours and still nothing. The message I get is "Verizon Wireless was unable to verify your identity using the information you entered".
Tried the web portal but it says I'm ineligible.
We've had how many freaking iPhones on Verizon's network now and we're still having activation issues on launch day? Really? Come on Verizon...honestly.
I can't activate mine either. I can't get past the setup. It's asking me for my zip code and last 4 of my social, and then telling me that "Verizon Wireless is unable to verify my identity." I spent over 4 hours on the phone today with Verizon and Apple. Verizon says it's an Apple issue, and Apple is telling me it's something with the network. Apple has a report submitted to their engineering department, but it can take up to 2 days to hear anything. It's almost 10pm, and they still haven't figured anything out.
i am having the same issue. Calling back in the AM hoping for more information. please reply if you hear of a fix!
Well this stinks. I can't activate mine either! I tried My Verizon> My Devices> Activate or Switch Device... Still no luck. I've activated three iPhones (4, 5s, 6 Plus) in the past, and my iPhone 7 is the first I was unable to activate. Tried calling Verizon, erased my settings a half dozen times, turned off, turned on... Guess I have to make a trip to the Verizon Store.
Well....Atleast you got the phone...Mine got cancelled somewhere along the way....With no real explanation as to why...Verizon's system is jacked up...They need to step it up...I'm ready to uproot to another provider.
EVERYBODY
With the amount of iPhone 7 sales along with the price drop in iPhone 6's the amount of activations are causing both Apple and Verizon Wireless's OTA servers to be overloaded. Please refer to the following alternative methods for activation.
-WiFi
-Connect to iTunes
Might I add my colleague got his ATT iPhone 7plus and is flaunting it. You dropped the ball Verizon
That's great. I don't care. VZW isn't AT&T. I don't even like iPhones or Apple products, they are too restrictive for me, I love my Android. It will get activated when the servers are not being destroyed. Thank you
Okay, here is the solution that worked for mine and my wife's new iPhone 7. Idk if Verizon or Apple would like this, but it worked for both of us. We just switched out the SIM cards from our old iPhones (5S & 6), I realize this is not a solution for Android crossovers or old iPhone users that do not have the Nano SIM, but worth a shot.
It is important to note that it took much longer (15-30 minutes) for the complete activation (recognition of the iPhone 7 on My Verizon's website) with the 5S to 7 verses the 6 to the 7. I am not sure if this was a coincidence or not. We are keeping our old SIM cards just in case!
Good luck everyone!
Yeah...don't you think that all of us who tried to activate our new phones tried those other methods?
So, you like taking the risk of an Android burning your house down if the battery exploded? Or having your phone bricked because one of the many apps had a virus attached? Good luck with that.
I work all weekend, so hopefully my husband can get it worked out while I'm gone. Please let me know if they figure yours out as well!
When I ordered my phone through Verizon phone sales dept they said I should expect to receive the phone on sept 23rd. They said I might receive it early but I need to wait til the 23rd to activate it. they said as hard as it may be not to try to activate it before the 23rd it just won't work. I already received it and I will just wait. What's the big deal waiting a week? My 6 works fine so I will suffer with it for another week!!
I have solved the issue- ended up being an old zip code from a house my wife lived in 10 years ago before she even had Verizon. Very odd... but I heard others have had the same issue. I would recommend putting in any zip code including employers, homes etc. you have ever been associated with.
I hope this helps!
I'm sorry, but that is just not true. Your phone can be activated as soon as you receive it. Sometimes CS makes stuff as they go along because they don't know what the issue is.
I got an email from the Apple engineering dept that they now have a fix in place! Instead of using my zip and last 4 of my social, they had me use all 0s. It worked for mine. It is restoring from the Cloud right now! At least there are a few different options to fix it today!

I always wonder why people don't use this method. It is definitely the easiest and contrary to what you say above, it IS a solution for Android crossovers as long as the SIM card is the same size. I routinely switch between android and iPhone every couple of weeks. The only thing which I need to do is to take the SIM card out of the phone I am using and place it in the phone I would like to use. Done. Nothing further to do.
We're glad to hear you've gotten your new phone to activate, EJANSEN. Thank you so much for your patience. Please let us know if there's anything else we can assist with.
