I have an iPhone 8 Plus that I bought in December 2017. The software version is iOS 11.4.1. About 2 weeks ago, out of the blue (no new apps, Settings changes, or iOS update), my Voicemails started to be transcribed, even though I'm not subscribed to Voicemail Transcription Services through either Verizon or Apple, or through any app. Now if I check any Voicemail, even those that have been saved for several years, each Voicemail is being transcribed. Then 2 days ago I started getting "Voice Mail to Text" messages (note Voicemail is spelled as 2 words at the beginning of these text messages) for the newest Voicemails I've received. I have never wanted, needed or asked to be subscribed to these features from either Verizon or Apple (or anyone else) & I still don't want either feature - the transcribed messages are very inaccurate & full of errors & missing information (personally, I don't know why anyone would think these inaccurate transcriptions are helpful) & I find them annoying. I "Chatted" with Verizon this past Sunday (09/16/18) about the Voicemail Transcription problem, & again yesterday (09/19/18) after the Voicemail Transcription started showing up additionally as "Voice Mail to Text" messages starting the day before (gray text balloons by the way; I don't know if that signifies anything). I then talked to AppleCare this morning (09/21/18) to see if the features are being provided by Apple (as Verizon told me during our 2nd Chat Session that they MUST BE being provided by Apple or some other app since they're definitely not being provided by Verizon, & since Verizon verified during both Chat Sessions that I'm not subscribed to either of these 2 features, nor are these 2 features being provided on a trial basis & must be being provided by Apple). AppleCare tells me they don't provide either of these features themselves & they definitely have to be provided by a Carrier (Verizon in my case). Verizon does provide both in its Premium Voicemail Services (& AppleCare reiterated that Verizon's product for voicemail text messages is spelled as 2 separate words in the "Voice Mail to Text" feature). AppleCare at least walked me through EACH & EVERY ALL Setting on my phone, including every single App Setting to make sure something wasn't amiss in these Settings that could be causing these 2 features to appear on my phone, but didn't find anything amiss & the only suggested changes were to turn off everything to do with Siri & Siri Search, since I don't use Siri either. But nothing we did got rid of the Voicemail Transcription. Apple Care told me to power down the phone after we disconnect, wait awhile & then power the phone back on to save the changes we made & then check my Voicemails to see if it corrected the problem - it didn't! I'm totally frustrated!!!
Is anyone else experiencing the same thing (or have you encountered this problem ever), especially over these past ~2 weeks? I don't want either of these features. Does anyone know how I get rid of them once & for all? I would appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me to correct this problem.
