I have been a Verizon customer for many years. I got a new iPhone at Apple last week.
Unfortunately, I got locked out of Instagram and cannot receive their two factor authentification text messages with verification code at my cell phone number. I have been trying all day long.
My text messaging is otherwise working fine.

I am having the same problem that Annie is having. I changed my password on Instagram & I have 2-factor authentication, so they sent me an SMS text to verify the password change. The last 4-digits of the phone number is my correct number. I haven't had any problem receiving 2-factor verification SMS texts from anyone else before. I have requested the code resent several times on both my phone & my computer.
I just sent myself a picture via text, so yes, I can receive a picture message.

dawnbebe, I'm so sorry to hear that you are having trouble receiving the messages to complete two-factor authentication. We are here to help resolve this. When did you begin having trouble? Are you getting any kind of error to indicate that the messages are not coming through, or are you simply not receiving them?

Hi, i also am having the same problem described in this thread. The notification says "link sent to [my number]" but i am not getting any text. Instagrams help center is of no use

That is definitely strange. What type of phone do you have? Do you have the Messenger app downloaded, for Facebook? MichelleH_VZW

Telephoner, with all the passwords I understand how it's easy to run into this problem. We are not able to troubleshoot third party apps however, I do know that there is a link "forgot password" that you can click on the log in. DoloresK_VZW

Making sure that you can receive all messages is important. When you mention that you are getting other messages, does that include messages from your bank or other sites?

Hi- I am having the same issue as all of these people. I receive all texts but verification text from Instagram. Two factor is working for other sites (arriving from PayPal, for example). The link provided just sends you to the page where they try to verify you by sending the code to your phone - the exact thing that isn’t working here! I’ve been trying for days and days.
I can not access my account now!
Please help! The code should be arriving on our phones via text!

This is unusual as you are receiving verification messages from other sites. Typically when there is an issue with your service, it will impact all verification codes. Have you reached out to Instagram?

I am having the same issue of not receiving sms in texts from Instagram after getting a new phone. I've done some digging and it looks like the Authenticator is set to your phone, not phone number. This required a hard reset of your account and seems to be an issue only with Verizon phones.
Verizon team, this is not that unusual based on how many people have commented on this forum alone. please do a little more digging into how to fix this for your customers. It's clearly important to us.

I’m having the same issue with Instagram and Facebook. I’ve gone to their support pages and tried all the steps offered. Nothing works. I have contacted them several times for help and all they do is refer me back to their support pages. I’m going around in circles and still can’t receive texts.
