Hi All. I have Apple XR. I am in an area where I have been told I have bad service by utility companies and apparently my aluminum shingles can interfere with wifi. I have one carrier for wifi and one carrier - Verizon for phone. When I first put on airplane mode, weeks later is when I first noticed issues. When I would go from wifi to cellular service, I noticed both slowed down or cellular went to SOS or no service and would work again when I powered on/off if toggling from airplane mode didn't work.
(as soon as I walk out my door my wifi goes to cellular because wifi doesn't work all over my yard)
So I learned to take off of wifi before I left my house to bypass that interaction of the two, and it was fine for some time until not. I finally spent the time to call in and got the most amazing rep who listened when I told her yes I did all troubleshooting steps on version website as well as the virtual assistant steps too. Exhausted it all. She took action and had me resent network settings to make sure we were still linked since they moved to 5g/LTE (or something like that?). None of that worked until she did something on her end and said if that didn't work I would need a new SIM maybe.
6 months later here we are again with same issue. New rep didn't understand what I was saying and apparently notes weren't able to be followed or viewed. I said if you can do same thing last rep did at the end, it should work or at least I will know its time for new phone/carrier?
Once she had me reset everything it hasn't worked right since, but worse. I can't even toggle anymore with airplane mode or power on and off like I used to , to be able to get one or two bars. Right now Im stuck on SOS since the last network reset.
I am trying to understand why I would need a new physical SIM card when there's no reason mine should be compromised, My phone and all electronics I keep in mint condition.
While my phone is old, I don't see how that would matter with calls and texts, especially as I keep everything updated with no issues.
Anyone know how to manually update carrier settings? I think that is what the first rep was explaining and the 8 times Ive reached out to Verizon this week, I loose them or never get a person to be able to see what Ive called in for already to help. I am going to try them one more time and tomorrow I can finally leave house and drive to Verizon, but. figured I should ask the community if this has happened or anyone knows.
Thanks in advance!

eL77, I'm sorry you've been having some issues with connection. To help out and give some details, first the iPhone SOS display is the new way they'll display 'No Service.' If your phone is having issues connecting with your carrier, it will display that. Emergency calls still function as they're routed via whatever service you can reach.
Based on what you shared, it sounds like service in and near your home is a known issue. To get some clarification, are you having this issue while at home? You seemed to indicate you were using Wi-Fi and possibly Wi-Fi Calling at home is that also correct?
