Why Upgrade anymore?

Upgrades used to mean a 2 year contract and a "sweet" deal on a new phone. Now you still have to sign a 2 year deal and just end up paying in installments? Can anyone actually explain why a person who uses less than 3 GB of data and has one line- therefore does not qualify for any other discounts- even bother? I can switch and get $500 from another carrier that is only $10 more per month...?

Picking a carrier should be for coverage. If you want to keep switching every time you want a new phone, fine, I guess.

Most carriers charge an activation fee and make you turn in your old phone to get credit. It is usually a break even.

I’m a technology lover myself and being able to upgrade is something that I’ve always looked forward too. I would hope that you find great value in the network to want to be able to continue to upgrade with us. We do offer 2 year agreements for existing customers and you do also have the option for the Device Payment Plan that can pose new discounts. Was there a certain phone that you were interested in upgrading to?

You said it! The most important three things when choosing a carrier are coverage, then coverage, and finally coverage. I made the mistake of switching carriers years ago just to get the Palm Pre. What a mistake! I left AT&T to go to Sprint and the Palm Pre. Not only did the phone stink, but Sprint is an absolute horror show. Looking for Sprint network coverage in northern NJ? Fuggedaboudit!! I finally had a roadside meltdown with my Sprint phone trying to get a signal. World class hissyfit, followed by an immediate trip to the nearest Verizon store to port out of Sprint. What a relief!
