I have a Motorola z2 play on the pre paid plan and I'm wondering if I can take my sim card out of the z2 and put it in a unlocked Google pixel 4xl and still have my plan work

So, you should no have no trouble moving it from one phone to the other. If you sign in to your My Verizon account, you'll be able to confirm that the devices switched over.
