How did you pull my credit report?

I specifically opted to not include my SSN, which led me to believe you would do a "soft" credit pull to "verify my idenity". Instead you pulled my full report, causing an inquiry and lowering my credit score! That is deceptive. I will be disputing this.

It’s amazing what can be done with just a name, address etc. this is how credit checks are done.
credit inquiries are soft pulled when you have an existing relationship with your credit or bank etc. no affect on credit score.
a hard pull lowers it but not low enough to harm your fico score. I just went to a car dealer to buy another car and they not only hit me with a hard pull, but the three other banks they use to get the best rate also pulled my file. 4 in one day. Still had no affect on my score. You cannot dispute what was done since you were applying for an extension of credit from Verizon.
if you were telling them not to check your credit, you would have been hit with security deposit requirements. So evidently the pull was done thinking you would rather have that then pay $400+ in deposits.

I specifically told them not to check my credit AND paid almost $300 for a deposit--they STILL did a hard inquiry WHILE IM TRYING TO BUY A HOUSE!
I am absolutely livid. This is enough to make me cancel service and NEVER look back!
Never gave them my social either!

See my reply below. They don't need your social just your full name and any previous or present home address.
a hard inquiry won't harm your house buying ability unless you have numerous ones on your report. Any inquiry over a year old is not even counted. And receintly made ones have a set number before it is adverse.

Yes and no, wanted to make sure no one is misled. one hard inquiry if within 3 months or so to closing prob will just mean an extra paperwork (ie letter of explanation stating what was being applied for and if new line of credit was established) . HOWEVER, if you are currently in escrow/loan currently undergoing underwriting, any Hard inquiry (even applying for a Macy's charge card) can result to being denied last minute esp if you are already on the borderline score or debt to income ratio qualification.
