I can see collection account from verizon in my credit report. Need help

I just retrieved my credit report off late and seeing there are collection accounts for 3 months. I had no idea about them. I never recieved any collection letter from verizon about them and no notification.

I payed my bills quite regularly. And I think just missed my due date in one particular month otherwise have been quite regular in my bill payments since the time I had subscribed to verizon's service.

I need information who can help me and what should be my next step to get the collection account out of my credit report as it is hamperring me in getting credit card from my bank.

Immediate help is most appreciated.
