Recent AMBER ALERT recv'd on phone

I do believe the Amber Alert notifications have gone beyond anything it was designed for.

I do not like it on my phone and wish to remove this service, if you want to call it that. Does anyone know how to do this. I understand ATT customers also recv'd the Amber Alert. It is bad enough that I have government digging into my pocket all the time. I do not need them blasting notices to me on my private phone. Verizon, can you please keep them off my phone or at least give me the option of disabling this service. I will look for a phone service that will allow me to do this if Verizon doesn't get on the ball. Its bad enough they let the government have all our phone records, now we have to listen to them give us warnings, wanted or not.

Which phone model do you have? You can turn off some of the emergency alerts, but the steps to do so are dependent on the device you have.

It is an Amber alert. I bet if someone in your family went missing, you would be wanting to get a message out to as many people as you can.

Whichever phone you have, first look under settings, if not there, it will be under messaging.

You can disable AA, and weather warnings, but you can not disable the President of the U.S.

Yea them Alerts are Worth having but the First Time they Go off they can Scare the Living Ha Dewey out of Ya!

B33, we had an AA two days ago. Was at work and at the same time, I mean at the exact same time, many phones went off with the exact same tone and pattern and we all look at each other.

But don't you get it? That's what governments are FOR!!! Digging into pockets, inundating the citizens with warnings and messages, and colluding with Big Business to engage in 24/7 surveillance . I never could figure out where Americans have the utter audacity to think freedom, liberty and individualism actually means anything.

I bet it made ya wonder if some Aliens were coming). Well, when we had all those Flood Warnings going up My Dads work phone which is Just a regular Verizon phone Went off and my two Razr's Went off and when you get three phone going off at the same time it's Wake up Shaker! So i can just imagine the Noise all of those phones made at the same time..
