Call Customer service to be sure your account is set up properly.

Try a battery pull and restart your phone.

Dial *228 option 1 and follow the prompts.

If none of these work, post back and let us know.

I have had the same problem with my lg vortex that is only 7 days old.  Well i called customer service and they haven't contacted me on the trouble ticket.  This upsets me a lil bit b/c i expected more to be done today.  I tried everything except for deleting all my sd card information.

Try these in this order before calling customer service and it will almost guarantee a fix to your texting issue.

Step one: Hard reset on the phone. This is just a battery pull but do it this way exactly, Keep your phone turned on and pull the battery out, just like pulling the battery on a computer, hard reset. It will not erase any information whatsoever or any settings on your phone.

Step two: *228 opt 1. Reprograms phone. does not change any settings or anything else either.

Step three: Take it to a Direct Verizon Wireless store to have your firmware updated.

I guarantee this will fix your issue 99% of the time. Most likely just with the first two steps.

Reply and let me know how it works for you

I could not send texts but could receive texts. Had a Verizon update for S4 a few days ago.

Nothing seemed to work until I pulled the battery exactly as suggested in this post.

The *228 step appeared to no longer be necessary with the S4 as the Verizon Wireless SIM card evidently does it when either the battery is reinstalled or immediately when you enter *228.

Messaging now works.  Thank you very much.

Try what SuzyQ suggested AND make sure those sending texts are using your 10 digit number.

Syncing Facebook to your phone book seems to be the problem. Facebook adds a +1 in front of contact numbers, for the country code, and somehow it screws up the texting. To fix it, go to "Settings", "Accounts", select facebook and click "Remove Account".

You can still access facebook from your app or by going online.

I've been doing a factory data reset, almost weekly, and the problem kept coming back.  As soon as I got rid of fb from my phone directory, the problem went away.

Hopefully, this helps for you too. :smileyhappy:
