Auto pay revoked

Mirrorsmokymountain

New customer here who ported in 4 lines. I was told discounts will take a month to see on my bill and that I have to sign up for auto pay to receive them. I signed up for auto pay and Verizon tried to take this month’s payment when I was under the impression the autopay goes into effect next month with the discounts. The bank account I used wasn’t funded because of this assumption. Now Verizon will not allow me to sign up for auto pay with a checking account to get my discounts. This is extremely frustrating and unfair. I only signed up with the intention to utilize the auto pay discount — otherwise I would have stayed with T-Mobile.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Something to consider - promise not selling anything here, just a genuine alternative option. The Verizon Visa® Card allows for the Auto Pay discount. You also earn back Verizon Dollars when you pay your bill and you can use those on future bills or other Verizon purchases.  Verizon isn't the card issuer - Verizon has a partnership with Synchrony Bank. Here is our support page if that sounds like something you'd consider: Verizon Visa® Card FAQs – earn Verizon Dollars

Hey there, Mirrorsmokymountain, we appreciate you choosing Verizon and want to ensure that you receive all discounts that you are eligible for! To ensure we're on the same page, can you clarify the trouble you're running into as far as updating your payment account? Are you currently using a bank account to pay your bill? Are you looking to switch to a checking account using a debit card number?

I am unable to add a checking account. When I try to sign up for auto pay it says my payment methods (credit cards) are not able to be used for auto pay.

Hi, you mentioned an account not having funds when the first autopay transaction processed, which would have caused the transaction to be declined.  Unfortunately, if this occurs, then the system cancels your autopay and you are not allowed to sign back up for autopay for 6 months.  Sadly, there is not a workaround for it, although I do wish there could be some leeway as glitches and other random unexpected things can occur.

Thanks so much for this. It’s fine that I can’t pay with a check but at least still allow the discounts with autopay on a credit card. I think it’s deceptive and I’m thinking about switching even though I just got here. I only signed up with the intentions of a smaller bill because of their past issues autopay discount.
