Cancel payment on a Disconnected Account

Ported account to another provider. Followed Verizon customer service's instructions to pay off account, but it didn't pay off anything. Just posted a huge credit to my account.
How do I cancel the payment?? The disconnected line pages get me nowhere. I was able to see the payment in my account activity, but nothing more than that. No other online options.
