Difficulty Canceling International Calling Plan

My husband and I added the international calling plan to our Verizon account in advance of a three-week trip.  We were persuaded to adopt the monthly plan rather than the daily plan we usually use by someone who told us it would save money and would be canceled upon out return. It has not. We have been charged repeatedly for the plan we no longer need despite many attempts to cancel. My husband has been told by customer service employees in the chat and by phone that it would be 'taken care of' yet six months later we are still struggling to remove this excess charge from our monthly bill. We are beyond frustrated. Any advice much appreciated!

We strongly recommend removing the international plan directly from your My Verizon app. The following link will guide you through this process: https://www.verizon.com/support/international-travel-faqs/

We don't have the app. The problem seems to be that we are being required to change our plan to something new rather than returning to the plan we had before our travels. We were told that the new plan would automatically revert to our old one after the date we returned.  - Also, we think we should be compensated for the months we have been paying for a plan we are not using and never intended to have for this long.

Hi, I think what happened was you got signed up for a monthly international plan subscription instead of a one-time, one month international plan.  The website says only Account Owners or Account Managers can cancel subscriptions, which makes me think whomever you were speaking with may not have the authority to cancel the perks since they don't own your account.  If you don't have the app on your phone, you can do it on a computer:

As for the "plan change" you mentioned, I'm not sure what's going on there.  If you had a very old legacy plan, I think the very old plans did not have any international services available to them, so maybe you had to upgrade to something current in order to even get the international plan to begin with?  If so, you'll have to keep the new plan, as the old plans can't be gone back to.
