I called Verizon a couple of months ago to see what I could do to lower my bill. I was told, very clearly, that we were eligible for free phone upgrades, plus a senior discount, a loyalty discount as we have been Verizon customers for over 18 years, and a discount for Florida residents. They told us the deal came with a free third phone and phone plan. We verifies this with them multiple times, and they assured us our bill would total $82/month as long as we returned our current phones , which we did. We just needed to pay tax on the three phones, and then the bill would go down. I called a month later to ensure that the bill would be what they told me, and they assured me that the bill would be $82/month. The next bill came in at $172. I spent 3 hours on the phone with Verizon supervisors, who after telling me there was nothing they could do, managed to do us the favor of having us return the third phone and terminate that line, which we never wanted or asked for in the first place, and “only” charging us $138/month. The only other option was that they offered to let us return all three phones and terminate the contract. But we can’t get back the phones we paid off after 3 years.
They will not review the recorded phone calls where they flat out lied to us. Clearly the calls they record are not there to help customers. I will never trust Verizon again. Live and learn…
