Verizon charged me 935 or so dollars for a phone call to China in May. Indeed my phone shows a 4.5 hour call to a former student of mine who teaches at Hainan University, but the call was 8:37PM till 1:00 AM or so. I go to bed at 8:30 PM in Hawaii and put my phone on a charger so maybe I accidentally punched his number as I put it on a charger. I contacted him and he shared a phone snap of his call record and it showed him as receiving a call from me at 2:36 PM the next day, which would be 1 minute different than the time on my phone with time differences. His clearly states Missed Call, so it did not connect but maybe he had voicemail. But they recorded a more than 4.5 hour call. We pay them out of our bank account as direct charge so they hit it for $1063.65 yesterday and it should have been something like $128, their normal monthly charge. When they first notified me of this I called customer service and talked for 30 minutes. They entered a case number but never got back to me, just waited a month and billed me the full charge for that call. Why would a communications company not have an automatic shutoff if a call hit a recording instead of running for 4.5hours before disconnecting. I am a retired senior and this will have me searching for a different company after decades with Verizon. Tim
