My father passed away at the beginning of 2024. He had Verizon. First things first they continued to pull money from his account after his death. This I don't blame on them because of automatic payments and and mistakes made at the bank when freezing the accounts. The issue begins when trying to get a refund for the money they pulled from his account after his passing. It was impossible unless you are a manager on the account. There's an option to upload documents as executor of the estate but then they're basically asking you to take responsibility for the account. Which I didn't want. I settled with notifying them of his death and moving on with my life. At no time did they notify me of any further responsibilities on my end. Now, one year later I received a claim through my attorney that I owe 980 dollars! For what ?! I called Verizon and they said that they sold off the debt to some collection company. They wouldn't give me any information on what exactly the charge was for. Now I'm dealing with this just as I approach the one year anniversary of his passing. Any small amount of money that I received from the estate went to paying the funeral bills. The whole process is a racket. In order to get the money that is owed to you you have to be an executor of the estate. In doing so you make yourself a target for all these greedy companies like Verizon. I'd be ashamed to be apart of this process.
