Plan Rate Adjustment Credit One Time Charge increases in March 2025

I just received a March 2025 increase of $23.69 for my two flip phones with no data. Online, I see a Plan Rate One Time Adjustment credit of $8.57 and a $15.12 Plan Rate Adjustment Multi. I was promised last month a $25 Loyalty monthly credit to keep my business, been with Verizon for 19 years. My monthly bill came in, no $25 credit monthly credit, as promised. Been on the phone weekly with several Reps with new promises. Anyone know what this One-Time charge is for, it should be only one time? This should go away next month, correct? It's a credit, which is a decrease to bill, not an increase. How do they justify an increase of $15.12 plus $8.57.? Combined monthly increase of 32%, when inflation is low and dropping, 2.8%.

, if your flip phones only do calls and texting and that is all you'd want, have you considered converting your lines to prepaid service, as there is a Talk & Text only prepaid plan which is $35/month, and if you use autopay, is $30/month per line after the first month? I'm wondering if what's going on is you have a very old plan which you've been using for many years, and Verizon is upping the rates for very old plans, or simply removing them and automatically upgrading you to another service plan because any service plan will eventually become obsolete if it refers to technology which is no longer in use.

I was informed last week (Monday) that they would have a resolution to my $25 monthly loyalty credit in 5 days. This was promised by a Representative in Feb, stating that since I've been a customer for 19 years, this it what would happen. I asked him to put it in writing, so there would not be any issues moving forward. He told me that I would have to wait for the March billing to see this discount. Bill came in yesterday, no loyalty discount.

We also saw a "plan rate adjustment credit" on our bill, but this wasn't a credit - it was a charge added to our new (and more expensive) plan charges. We knew our monthly bill would increase $15 since we're on an old plan but this charge wasn't disclosed to us. Have you received a resolution to your post yet? I've been with Verizon long-term as well (over 15 years) and have never received a loyalty discount, just an increasing number of fees. Happy to hear any tips for resolving the plan rate adjustment credit if you have them!

C&Z Loyalty of over 28 years means nothing and now we're seniors and can't afford these constant increases. There's a reason we can only afford to have NON DATA minutes and text only Flip phones but our bill says *plan changed and *new plan added, and "we didn't change or add a new plan" at all. Plan rate adjustment and account wide charges and credits 28.79. In the last 3 months our bill was 78.19 and then went up to 83.22 and now 95.26 and next bill says 98.47 and WE CAN'T AFFORD THIS ! The reps have lied to me that they'd remove increased charges and has even said it was a system error before and said they'd change it, but the charges have remained and increases have continued. We have no choice now but to leave this unmanageable mess.

@SynthpopAddict Thank you so much and yes our flip phones are still a minutes plan with voice and text only, and they are Non Data flip phones and that's what we've preferred and used all these years.

You're welcome. If your plan has a limited number of calling minutes, that is very old indeed as no carrier meters minutes on any current plan for calls or texts (I'm sure you remember the days "Why don't you text them?" "No, there's a charge for that."). I would definitely look into the prepaid plan I'd mentioned, as that would suit your situation better than the current plan you have. Verizon must be assuming most everyone has a smartphone and so are trying to get any postpaid customers to pay within some cost range.

Here is the answer for everyone searching for this mysterious "credit":

You should have received a notice a few months ago regarding an upcoming increase on your bill. The price for older plans increased. You should also see a note about this on your bill (PDF version or printed version) next to the Plan section.

The mysterious "Plan rate adjustment credit" is a one-time charge for the plan price increase for the previous billing period. You weren't charged for the price increase on your last bill so you are being charged for it on your current bill. I don't know if this was a mistake or why this charge is called a "credit" but this was the answer given to me by a Verizon representative.

I don't know why the representatives won't provide an answer here in this thread. You may want to contact them to confirm what I have written above and to make sure your bill is correct. Your situation may be different from mine.
