Price increase and information provided

We had a Small 2GB plan with unlimited talk, texting.  We noticed on our account on the Verizon website, a one-line notation that 02/20/2025 we would be billed an additional $15/mth/line, so an increase of $30/mth.  We did not receive any notification of this increase other than the one-line appearing on our account online.  With the line increase we would be paying approximately $53/mth per line.

During a discussion with a Verizon customer service representative, I questioned the increase and various options.  He informed us that based on what we would be paying for the Small 2GB Data plan, he could switch us to the “Unlimited Welcome” plan, a $55/line plan providing unlimited calling, texting and data. I was assured that the new plan was not going to have a rate increase.

Based on the minimal difference between the two plans (after our increase), we opted to change to the Unlimited Welcome plan.

Due to a pricing issue we are having with our 5G Home Internet Plan, I had to again call Verizon CS.  It was during the latest conversation that I was informed that our new Unlimited Welcome Plan would in fact be increased by $15/mth/line.

Based on our conversations with Verizon, I switched plans with the understanding it wouldn’t increase, but now that we have switched, we are informed we are still subject to the increases.

We subscribed to the Verizon 5G Home Internet services.  During our discussion regarding the service cost, we were informed of promotional rates that we qualified for.  We were to receive the service for $30/mth, after applicable discounts.  We are being charged $45/mth.

I have had numerous discussions/chats with Verizon regarding this billing discrepancy, but to no avail.  I have attached copies of my chats where they have stated we would be billed $30/mth.

When we signed up for the Unlimited Welcome Plan, I was provided a copy of our Bill Estimates, which shows $32/mth for the 5G Home Internet plan.

Misrepresentation and the apathetic attitude of the CS reps has left us with an increase of $75/mth over what we had agreed to.  NOT paying over $200/mth for these services.

There are alternatives and we are reviewing them.. T-Mobile works great in our area.

Please file a complaint with the FCC on fraudulent representation of pricing by customer service and then being billed a higher amount..Verizon is also not providing a transcript of the conversations we have with them which can be requested as evidence.

It sounds as if you're not receiving a bundle discount for your mobile + home internet service.  If you can't get a resolution directly, then the other poster in this thread has a point.

But just as an aside...if you were happy with a 2 gig plan, you must not use very much data at all, if ever?  If it was costing you over $50 for that plan, that's an awful lot to pay for what is pretty much "no data" in these times.  Modern apps can use that much data just running in the background.  If you don't have much need for data usage, I'd suggest switching to prepaid service.  There is a talk and text only prepaid plan which is $30/line with autopay, and a prepaid 15 gig plan with unlimited talk/SMS or MMS texting for $35/month with autopay.  Taxes and fees are additional, but it's only a few bucks more.  How that would affect the pricing of your home internet service, can't say...might cause you to lose a bundle discount, but even without a bundle discount, if the mobile lines are cheaper...
