When I got the phone I currently have, I traded in my last phone and was told it was valued at around $900 so the new phone was only going to be $150 (approx). I just went on Verizon app and it says I have 18 payments left with a balance of $474. Why is that? Makes no sense. If I wasn’t going to get the $900 I would have kept my old phone for my kids or I would have bought the phone in full at the time of receiving it.

The final value assessed for a trade-in is made by whomever receives your trade-in and processes it, not the salesperson in the store, unfortunately. I'm guessing there *is* something showing in your account saying the trade-in was processed and you're getting some credit for it, which is better than nothing, as I've read posts from others where their trade-in simply vanished...
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
