Verizon Placed me in Collections and ruined my credit.
Hi So I was with a customer with verizon for about 23 days, I got a phone and a plan so they gave me 200$ credit for opening and account with them, so when I went to cancel my account and give the phone back the agent at the store told me that the 200$ credit will cover what every changes was generated for the 23 days and he told me the only thing I would have to pay was the 50$ restocking fee which was okay and I paid it, this happened in January of this year, Verizon called me and told me that I owed them 200$ for the credit that they gave me and I am like why ? Your agent at the store said it was given to me to go towards my first month bill or for credits on any other items or device from Verizon but he said we can use it to close out the account and so we used it to closed out the account, Verizon still kept calling and calling and I am telling them the same thing The credits covered the bill and the account was closed already, I got a notification on my credit report saying my credit decreased by 170 point from 730 to 560 and now collections calling me for money that they said was going towards my first bill, any Idea on how I can resolve this or If I am in the wrong please let me know.
