Verizon is charging me for a returned phone

Stormtropper626

I'm complaining with a pressing issue that's causing me significant frustration. I recently upgraded my phone and traded in my old device, which still had a balance of $323. According to the promotion, I expected to receive a credit towards my next bill. However, when I reviewed my current bill, I was surprised to see a charge of $500, which seems excessively high for a single user. After sending in my phone to my nearest USPS, I got a confirmation email the very next day that my device was successfully retrieved. On Jan 20th, I received an email from Verizon. Quote

โ€œA credit for the remaining payments of your previous device payment agreement will be applied on your next billing statement.โ€

I call Verizon and ask when this credit will be able and was told February. Now itโ€™s March 16th. I am so confused why Iโ€™m paying for my old phone and then getting a store credit for it. Iโ€™ve talked to numerous reps and none of them have been able to help me. One made me feel completely stupid, the second one basically told me I was SOS, and the third never responded to me after telling me I was supposed to return it within a certain time frame. I'm confused about the 30-day notice requirement. I received an email with a quote and a reminder text, but neither mentioned that I'd forfeit my credit if I didn't return the item by a specific date. Iโ€™m extremely disappointed in Verizon. Iโ€™m currently jobless and struggling financially, I cannot afford to pay off this phone whatsoever & how Iโ€™m worried about my service being turned off. How are you going to bribe your clients with a credit just to say I have to pay my old phone off. I might as well have kept it and sold it for more $.
