Verizon won't let you talk to an agent

michelefuentes

After being a customer for over 21 years, I am forced to consider a different wireless company because Verizon AI will not let me talk to an agent!  I am getting a divorce, and my ex-husband ported out his number from my account, HOWEVER, he still OWED on the phone about $1,000, that I am now STUCK WITH!.  So when my account got suspended, I have to pay off the ENTIRE BALANCE of $1300 before I can get my service turned back on.  AND to make matters worse, their system WILL NOT let me TALK TO AN AGENT!!!!! This is beyond RIDICULOUS!!!! How do you CUT OFF your customers?!!! I am being forced to leave Verizon and go to a different carrier and get a new phone number. I have not had cell service for myself and my son, who is in college in a different State, for 3 days now.  And I just found out that porting the number out and sticking me with the bill this week, a day before I was suspended!!! I have NEVER  had such HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE from Verizon in the 21 years I have been a customer!!

I feel your pain! Ive been a long time customer and the employees used to be top quality in their service responses. Now I've been dealing since Feb. with issues- spend about 10 hours of my time and still have no resilution. I came here to see if any others could suggest anything for me to do to get proper help that doesn't waste my time. It's sad....I have never been so frusterated with a company that I have been so loyal to over the years.

I put in a complaint to the BBB online yesterday and this morning I received an email from Verizon customer relations that they would like to set up a time to talk to me. We will see if it actually happens.

Hi Michele, I am assuming you have representation if you're going through a divorce.  Seems like you should consult with your representation about this extra bill being tacked onto your account since the line in question is not yours, so you shouldn't be punished for your ex breaking a Verizon contract.  The bill and any collections attempt ought to be on him.

However in the meantime, I have no service and no recourse to talk to anyone at Verizon.

I feel your pain.  However, it's now a big red tape situation and is sadly going to take some time to iron out.  The only thing I can think of is to sign up with a budget carrier and get a different number for the time being with a burner phone if necessary (if you currently have a Verizon phone, it may not work with another carrier).  Wishing you the best of luck that things work out in your behalf.  You're going through enough in your personal life to not have to deal with your phone company sticking you with bills that aren't your fault.
