I just received my new LTE network extender from Verizon last week. I kept getting that Server Error 5A message. I called but got nowhere. Today I was finally connected to a tech who told me that I had to register my MAC address with Verizon once I received the extender. No one told me that in previous conversations. They did try to sell me the home protection plan in case I needed a tech to come to my home and it would cost me less. Not happening .
Thanks to this forum, I was able to start with the MAC address. SO PLEASE REGISTER YOUR EXTENDER FIRST! Then I kept getting Server Error 9A, check LAN or firewall settigns. I found out that internet provider (not Verizon) had a firewall so I had to contact them. Then I had to plug the extender directly into the wall, not the surge protector. The bottom line was that the extender was not compatible with my Gateway. My internet provider is sending me an extender that will work with my Gateway.
Just wanted to help the next person with what I learned.

Who is your internet provider and what internet service is it? That might help others as well. What make/model extender are they sending?
