Network Extender ASK-SFE116 Loses Connection

I have an ASK-SFE116 Network Extender because I barely have one bar in my home (some places only SoS service).   Recently the network extender drops the connection through the internet and stops providing service in my home.   In order to "fix" the issue I cycle power on the network extender device.   Occasionally I must cycle power on both the network extender device and my cable modem.

Any suggestions on how to fix?   Problem is intermittent.   Happens about once a week (recently).   When working correctly network extender works very well.

Hi, you can check out the local admin page for the logs which should shed some light on what's causing it to drop. To access this page, you'll need to know its IP Address. Press the button on the left side of the screen until you see an IP Address.  Once you have gathered that information, goto either your phone or computer that is connected to the same home network as the extender and type the IP address into your browser and enter. Now you should see a login page. The pw is LTEFemto0000 (with the zeros representing the last four of the MAC Address found on the back label or the screen.) Once logged in, select Operation Details and look in sections: Operational Status, Server Connectivity, Alarms and Alarms History.

Here is a snapshot of the log.   Not sure what a SCTP link failure means.   Any help?

Unable to see the screenshot. That error means there is break in the connection to the server which usually self-corrects itself. How many events do you have?

Things are to check is your cable modem/router admin page to ensure that ports 500 and 4500 UDP are open for IPSec Server. Every ISP modem or router is different when it comes to setting up these ports.

Thanks,  I'm now trying to figure out to access my cable modem.   The password provided on the label isn't working.   I'm a little chicken to do a factory reset without Tier 2 support from my ISP.

I also see they updated my network extender firmware today.   I will recheck these in a few days.

Has it been stable since then?

Had my first failure in a few days this morning.  Will reach out to my ISP to get access to my router today.

My ISP claims they have opened the ports you noted.      I am still having the same issue (SCTP link failure).

Any other ideas to try?

Have them check for these ports:

1701  UDP - L2TP Pass Through.

1723 TCP - PPTP Pass Through

52428 TCP/UDP

By the way, what is the service type (DSL, Cable, Fiber)?
