i tried returning a local call from my landline and was asked for an area code?? i was taken aback by this!! i needed to hang up and redial the number with an area code..it was a local call..the call i received had no area code..i never had that problem before

the telphone number must 10 dight,    even in the same building,  it will be  not the same area code,  for Manhattan, New York,  it is  Five Area Code in the city or in the same building.

correction, no more Area Code, we need the area code was 10 or 15 years ago,  now the telephone number is 10 digets, no need to say Area Code, you must dial 10 digets telephone telephone.
