RIDICULOUS INTERNATIONAL RATES and LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE

I rarely make calls internationally and I am fine with being charged more than if I had a plan. BUT to be charged $3.19 per minute when Comcast and RCN cost $.24/minute without any plan. When, as a customer, I have all my business with Verizon and pay $250-300/month, I expect to be treated reasonably. Plus Customer Support just keeps repeating what the rate is and I am not getting call backs as promised from someone with the authority to discuss the unreasonableness of the issue. Has anyone out there been successful in getting someone with responsiblity to listen and address this issue of ridiculous international rates? I feel like my only recourse is to cancel!

I didn't sign up with Verizon for years due to their lack of good international plans. With just an occasional long distance call perhaps you should investigate one of those long distance providers where you dial an access code in front or Skype or Google phone or something.
