So I have a iPhone 14 Pro Max that I bought from Verizon a few years back which I stopped making payments for due to my circumstances at the time which led to Verizon listing my device as non paid, sent to collections and then IMEI blacklisted.
Fast forward now to present day, Sept 2024. I have officially paid off credit-control llc, the debt collection company who had bought and deals with debts from Verizon customers like myself who default payment etc etc, i have been in contact with them and I have finally made a one time lump sum pay to delete off of my credit report etc, which also satisfies the device payment in full like the debt collection customer service rep told me over the phone multiple times.
NOW that i satisfied and paid the debt off, I want Verizon to unlock the blacklisted iPhone 14 Pro Max which I still have and is in near perfect new condition but cant seem to find a customer service number/department or agent to call or get in touch with at this multi billion dollar company called "Verizon", in order to help me get this sim lock removed and said device taken off the blacklist! Can anyone here or Verizon customer support please reach out to me and answer my post here or point me in the right direction or any help is appreciated at this point !!!

Hello, igbnyc, thanks for reaching out in reference to your iPhone. We appreciate you working to resolve the outstanding balance on your previous account. So you have it, you may Contact Us here: https://www.verizon.com/support/contact-us/. As far as your phone/account, you mentioned you were able to send a payment to the collection company. When was this payment completed?

Yes I was able to send the payment to the debt collector company, credit-control LLC, the payment was sent on 08/26/2024. So it’s been a little over 2.5 weeks ago already and was really hoping to get this phone unlocked today or ASAP at this point. Is there a phone number I can call to get this done. I could really use a upgrade I’m currently on a iPhone 8 Plus at the moment. Let me know, thanks !

Thanks for that information. When working with payment sent through a collection agency, it will generally take some time for that payment to reach us and reflect on your account. Do you have your account number handy in order to verify your account balance here: https://bit.ly/3PspAOl?

The purchase happened 12/09/2022 and I only made I believe 1 payment on the account so immediately after it was closed and then everything sent to collections etc. I don’t have access to the account at all anymore. I have the emails when i purchased the device etc but it only shows the last 4 digits of the account number. I’m trying to see if I can find the full one. I mean it’s been almost 3 weeks since I made payment how long could it possibly take?

If you're not currently a Verizon customer, getting a blacklist removal may still not fix your problem, because Verizon's device unlocking policy states you must use the phone on Verizon for at least 60 days and then it automatically unlocks. However, given the past events, you might not have used it long enough for it to unlock. Also, if the history cannot be completely traced back to show that you are the rightful owner of the phone (because you ended up paying it off to a 3rd party later), the phone may never unlock itself.

Trust me any help/advice or insight from others who are going or have gone through what im going now helps! Ive been a verizon mobile customer before i purchased the device, when i stopped paying it all the way up to this very second as im writing to you lol, crazy i know! i stopped paying that specific iPhone 14 Pro Max back in December of 2022. I currenly have 5 open lines at the moment haha!! 3 of them mine and the last 2 belong to my parents, all under my social security number too! I can't get approved or open a new line if my life depended on it SMH i always run into the credit check portion of it and get slapped with having to pay d@mn near 75 percent of a down payment if i want to upgrade my device ever and especially in the next few weeks to the 16 pro max or whatever but yeah trust me i know verizon and their 60 day unlocking policy veryyyy well haha. I just want to unlock this 14 pro max of mine so i can sell it in reality and make some extra pocket income at the moment. Its just so fxcking frustrating not being able to actually call a specific phone number or being connected to a dept. or speak to an agent that actually knows what to do or has any idea of what i am asking or saying even, instead of some pour soul on the other side of the world being outsourced to handle my problems here while they are in some call center in India or Pakistan or some south asian country etc. I hope i can get this sorted out immediately because i paid off the debt already on Aug 26th and of course there is no communication between the debt collection co. and verizon themselves. Who knows if there ever would of been any contact if i wasn't here dealing with this issue because i could imagine the amount of people who just give up at some point in the long strung out sh!t show of a process this is, especially when this particular issue is something that can be taken care of in one phone call and in seconds on a computer by checking and verifying payment and unlocking my device and voila and verizon can go the other SMH but yeah thanks for letting me vent out my frustration and the nice reply. I actually thought i was getting somewhere when i first posted since the verizon rep was answering me like every hour from the moment i first published this post LOL.

No worries, I get it. 😉 Verizon has not been helped by having a lot of their CS outsourced overseas in recent years. I don't think the overseas call centers can really get into much of anything Verizon, never mind that how does someone on the other side of the world (working in the middle of the night with the time difference too) know what's going on with a network in the US?
I've seen some other threads in the forums about devices remaining persistently locked even though they were used long past the 60 days on Verizon. Usually this is with phones purchased through a 3rd party and it's got something to do with the records of the purchase being elsewhere and not in the customer's account. So I'd make sure you keep all evidence you have of paying off the phone as well as any records in your Verizon account indicating that the phone is yours/purchased through Verizon in case you have to file an outside complaint to get the phone unlocked or completely off of all blacklisting sites. Someone else recently posted about having a blacklist removal done for their phone, and it was taken off of one site, but other blacklist sites still show a blacklisting. Wishing you the best of luck and better times ahead, as it sounds like you went through a lot in the past but things are starting to turn around for you now.

Hello, Homeboy69. Thanks so much for reaching out and for the info you have provided. If a device is network locked, it could be for a few different reasons. It may be eligible and we would need to unlock it on our end, the device could still be connected to an account, or it could be locked for account financial reasons or due to it being lost/stolen. The only way we can check on the unlock status, is to have access to the account that has been authenticated by the account owner or account manager. If this person isn't available, we cannot check it. If this is the case, we can only recommend that you attempt to contact the seller for assistance.

In situations such as yours, I think it is best to step inside a Verizon store to have this issue resolved-especially that you paid off your device. The Verizon finance department usually handle such matters of unlocking devices once full payment for the device has been rendered. In addition, Verizon stores have the sole authority to contact the department as well to have this issue resolved immediately. Good Luck!

I too have a iPhone 14 Pro that has a blacklisted IMEI. I’ve had this phone for 3 years. Bought it new from Verizon or Best Buy. Verizon says they can’t do anything about it. Best Buy says they don’t have a list. So now I can’t turn in my phone for a credit.
