I’ve been a Verizon customer since 2022, I recently experienced financial hardship in late 2023 due to being unemployed and also being a college student, and fast forward July 2024 I am still unfortunately unemployed and facing financial hardship and still a struggling and stressed out college student, by that being said I have faced extreme difficulties with paying my Verizon phone bill, and my phone was disconnected due to the fact, I spoke to several representatives in the financial services department and told them my current situation and they told me that there was nothing to worry about because they understand the financial situation that I am going through and that they were going to place a note on my account stating that I have until July 31st 2024 to pay my past due balance before my service is disconnected, but my service was permanently disconnected on the 9th of July 2024, and it’s pretty frustrating knowing that I spoke with multiple representatives in Verizon Financial Services Department and they all literally told me that I had until the 31st of July.
once my service was disconnected on the 9th of July I called immediately to the financial services department and spoke to several representatives ONCE AGAIN, and I asked what happened to the note that I had placed on my account stating that I had to the 31st of July 2024 to pay, they told me that they didn’t see anything of the sort on my account, and they told me that I needed to pay $540 immediately to get my service reinstated, I told them about my financial situation once again and they told me that they would setup a payment arrangement for $236 for July 24th 2024 for me to pay towards the $540, they told me that the payment arrangement would only help me keep my phone number and would help keep my account from going to collections so I instantly agreed to the payment arrangement, fast forward July 13th 2024 I get a email from Verizon stating that my final bill is now $1296 and I need to pay it immediately by August 2nd 2024, I genuinely don’t know what to do at this point I feel very defeated and frustrated because no matter how many representatives I speak to none of the things that they’re promising and telling me is actually true.
also the $1296 being “owed for July” is pretty inaccurate and I have emails from Verizon about my bill showing that it’s incorrect, my original bill was $540, I owed $494 in June 2024, and I was being charged $46 on the bill for July, which all obviously added up to $540 being owed in July but all of a sudden the $540 is now a past due June bill and the $1296 is the July bill, that’s pretty absurd to say the least!, it’s not fair that Verizon gets a chance to do unfair things like this to their customers.
I still want my account and I really need my phone number and I am willing to pay the $540 or $494, but the $1296 that is magically a July bill is truly absurd and beyond me, and at that point I will 100% turn to the BBB to get my voice heard or go as far as to getting in contact with the CEO of Verizon if my voice is not heard by writing this!!!.
I genuinely would love if I can just pay my original past due balance of $540 by the 31st of July like I was told and promised by multiple Verizon financial services department representatives and just get my service restored, so I can have my number back because I truly need it!
