FiOS idiotic phone line battery backup device

Today, I received the PowerReserve battery backup device and was flabbergasted to find that it doesn't automatically switch over to backup; you have to manually turn it on. Also, due to this incredibly idiotic design, it is also incapable of charging its own batteries; in fact, the instructions explicitly say that you can't use rechargable batteries! Did Verizon job this design out to the Three Stooges? Absolutely useless! I am hoping that I can somehow get one of the older backup devices that will automatically switch over, but does anyone know if these older backup devices charge their batteries?

i can tell you that our backup battery for FiOS digital voice service is a sealed lead acid rechargeable and does in fact get recharged by being plugged into the ONT

I know they sell the new power reserve model,which as you discovered uses regular batteries and is not rechargable.

I was not aware that they weren't still installing a standard BBU, although I knew they were no longer including a Battery.

The Verizon installer (a very helpful guy) came back today to install an older backup unit (DUPS-1232V) that uses a real backup battery, but surprise; it apparently isn't compatible with the I-211M-L ONT I have. For some reason, it periodically does something to the power which resets the ONT, interrupting the Internet connection. He had this same problem recently at another installation and warned me it might not work . . . and it doesn't; I have the same problem.

I poked around online and saw someone selling one of these with an I-211M-K ONT, so I guess the "K" model works with it.

At this point, I believe that my only solution is to buy a backup unit that plugs into a jack on the side of the external power supply that was provided with the I-211M-L ONT. Several companies make them, but the cheapest is the Belkin BU3DC001-12V. Does anyone have any experience with this unit?

Don't need the battery backup; don't want it; I have cell phones, so I'm not spending $40 to replace a stupid battery. This unit and Verizon's policy on servicing something I didn't ask for is one more reason to leave Verizon completely.

If your battery backup unit (BBU) is beeping, you might try this and see if it clears the problem:

Otherwise, how does a customer opt out of having the BBU installed? If it's all ready installed, how do we completely disconnect it so its silenced forever. Again, I don't need phone backup power!

I have Verizon Fios. With the battery backup, Never thought about the need for a battery backup to watch TV until now. Sooo. The battery for my tv backup is starting to beep, means I have to buy a new battery. Never used the old one because when power goes out you can't watch TV anyways,unless you have generator, which I do, if you have generator, you don't need battery backup!! If you don't have generator, you don't have power to tv, you can't watch tv, so why do you need battery backup? Don't tell me it's to save settings,, I have the cloud . Plus, I can reset settings.

How do you stop a useless battery from beeping, and keeping family awake at night?

all I want to know is how to stop a useless battery backup, that I don't need ,to stop beeping, and keeping family awake at night? Like I said in previous message,which got cut off, If you only have Verizon Fios, you can't watch TV unless you have power, battery backup is useless
