CR1000A Coax WAN Connection

Hello,

I recently ordered one of the CR1000A Routers to replace my older Actiontec MW424WR Rev. I since they are no longer supported. Currently I have my Actiontec using Coax for the WAN port and to connect to my VMS/IPC1100 set top boxes and Ethernet/WiFi for my computers and other devices. I was told since I’m on a 50Mbps plan for Fios that I can use Coax on the CR1000A for WAN and to connect my set top boxes similar to how it is connected to my Actiontec, however I powered up the new CR1000A with everything attached, my computer via Ethernet/ WiFi can see the router but go no further, and the set top boxes are fine as well. Is the Coax not capable of being a WAN port? Do I need to switch that to Ethernet? Or is there a step I missed and something I need to have done to make this work?

The CR1000A's manual doesn't indicate that it has MoCA WAN support. Only MoCA LAN support. You may want to ask Verizon to switch your ONT to use Ethernet as the handoff, that way in the future you're ready for a speed above 100Mbps, and you'll be able to use any router Verizon releases in the future.

The last Fios router to support MoCA WAN is the G3100, which is the previous model to the CR1000A.

Hello,

That's odd I had reached out to someone at Verizon and they agreed it is possible on the CR1000A. Also it states in Section 2.0a of the user guide on page 21 that the Ethernet cabled is required if you speed is over 100Mbps that it is required. Which my plan is currently only 50Mbps so it shouldn't be required.
