Fios 50/50 internet only service

I was enrolled into the fios 50/50 plan for almost 3 years. The price I paid is $89.99-$45(discount) = $45. I didn't pay attention to it until recently talked my friend, who are paying $40 for a fios 100/100 plan. Why is that? Is it the price for new account? Thanks in advance.

New customer pricing is lower than existing customers.

speed increases are by area of availability and if you are on contract you may be stuck.

if not on contract it’s possible to get higher speeds if your willing to cancel or threaten to leave (Verizon has been known to call such a bluff but it’s worth the risk) you may get lower pricing or a speed boost to speeds up to gigabyte if available.
