We lose internet every night usually after 2am for several hour's. I can restart the router get nothing, reboot the the ONT and it will come back with a red fail light then eventually red moca. This happens almost every night though we can go several days without it happening. We had a tech out who installed a power box and told us we didn't need our battery anymore this did not solve the issue. Any insights as to what could be causing this would be greatly appreciated 🙂.

Based upon the description of the problem, I suspect that Verizon is working on its network equipment during the overnight hours.
It is customary for communications companies to perform network/service impacting work between the hours of midnight and 6AM local time.
If there was a problem with hardware, it would likely manifest itself constantly as opposed to between certain hours of the day only to resolve itself. 🤔
Another possibility is that Verizon is pushing updates to the router and/or ONT during the overnight hours.
l'm leaning towards the first option. 🙂

Red MoCA should not appear, even if there's maintenance going on. Did the tech check the ONT for MoCA alarms? Also, if you could, you should route an Ethernet cable from the ONT to the router. Ethernet can deliver higher speeds and you may be able to switch to a cheaper plan for more speeds.
